it feels a little harsh giving a negative review, as i'm kind in the middle, but i'm definitely leaning toward "no." i think it would've been much more reasonable releasing this as a free gz doom wad, but i dont feel like i was scammed for getting this on sale, either.

it's quite short, taking me only 44 minutes to beat the standard difficulty (and i was moving kind of slow.) the story is goofy, but the soundtrack and the aesthetics are nice. the gameplay of the levels is a bit boring, but there's only so much you can do with a doom-style game, so i can't blame it for that.

the weapons feel kind of weird. on standard, you can easily go through the entire game using just two weapons. the mp5 trivializes basically every mob, and the shotgun melts all of the bosses in, no joke, about 4-10 seconds depending on which one. more enemy variety would've been nice. everything is so squishy that i never felt incentivized to use the garand, and i had to intentionally forego using the mp5 so the game wouldnt be a total cakewalk.

you unlock hardmode once you beat the game, and i think hard mode is much better than standard, as it capitalizes on the squishy nature of enemies by making you just as easy to kill. i'm not a fan of guns being dual wielded in hard mode, though.

i don't hate it, nor would i say i dislike this game, but if i'm being honest, there are plenty of gz doom wads that are higher quality, and also free, so it feels kind of weird to pay for something like this. if you don't mind spending a few dollars for a cute little shooty bang bang, i think you won't be disappointed.
