v0.39.2 - mass optimisations

Hi guys, I have a new update for you recently I have been trying to patch up a few things to make the game more fun and optimised/smooth.

AI/combat improvements:

To improve combat I have changed the enemy's AI logic, animation and combat speed. Enemies now not only recover faster from ragdoll on harder difficulties but also move slightly faster. Enemy animationis are now fixed so when they do a dodge or jump attack they don't zip back to where they were. Lastly, I was given feedback that it was easy for the player to run from combat now the AI is faster and will swarm you if you agro to many at once.

Optamistions + engine update:

Game engines are funny things did you know Vsync can affect how fast a game engine will sometimes run another funny thing is that I had Vsync forced on all applications enabled in my GPU settings. Disabling this made the engine work more efficiently. Also, Vsync was on in the game settings as well the Unity physics system did not like this but after disabling them my frames for test builds went from 60fps to 200fps and menus went to 600-800fps.

Unity 6 engine update

One of the things that stopped me from updating the game engine was the old shader code we were using. This made everything break in the Unity-6 engine. The new engine is more stable especially when it comes to physics and rendering. This has removed almost every lag spike in the game.

General fixes and changes:

The security bot will now target the player when in detection range.
When picking up button classed objects the object position and calculation are recalculated to be more accurate of where it should be (more testing needed).
Enemies will not fall properly while animated.
Added audio mixer profiles to sounds so they are affected by audio settings.
Adjusted player crouch height to show feet.
The player now dashes with the velocity it already is moving with
player slide animation added.

v0.39 save system + combo attack system

Sup Guys, I have two major and one minor additions to the game and a few other smaller fixes.

Save system

First off we have implemented a Save System alongside a fixed checkpoint system, this means you can play at the checkpoint you left off and also makes game events like cutscenes will only play once so you don't have to sit through them over and over again.

Melee combos system

The second major change is the new addition of the melee combo system. Attack left and right to complete a combo to use special moves (there are currently only 2) these moves also change based on what you are holding in each hand.

First off, the Heavy attack (performed with ->, ->, <- or <-, <-, ->) had 4 variations based on what you are holding and all have a lunch effect.

The fist is a side swipe,

The batton is a backhand slash

The heavy object is an AOE slam

And the poll is a ram-like attack(still cycling through animation for this attack)

Second, we have the sweep combo which allows the player to commence a sweeping barrage of hooks (and shoves with the pole)

The combo system is dynamic which means combos can be collected/ unlocked later in the game by the player. This also allows us to generate the combos in the combos panel to show you your available combos.

Journal system

The Last change is that we have a journal system, collect papers from around the complex and read up on some lore. (we're still sprinkling them everywhere) the journal system is not yet tied to the save system resulting in a wipe of your journal when you close the game.

Other changes

Fixed an issue with the player being able to scale a wall in levels 1-1.
Fixed a big issue with player movement- turns out two player movement functions were fighting over each other, The slope walking and stair climbing script was causing the jank in the player movement.
Settings setup now triggers at the start of the game if the settings haven't been looked at.
Quality settings update to improve performance on low-end machines.
Fixed an issue with throwing objects.

v0.38.2 - level remasters

Update 0.38.2

Hello, it has been a while since our last update we have been busy polishing levels in the game to improve player level progression and direction, player combat, visuals and a new traversal method making use of the player grapple hook.

Level 1-1 remaster.

We have made changes to level 1-1 to help you through the level, making it easier as most of you seem to struggle to get to the next level.

level 1-4 remaster

Level 1-4 has been remastered from wooden boxes to metal containers and have had a lighting fix to fit the game theme of a deep hole with many shelves in it.

While traversing though you will come across a new layout of 1-4 including a new traversal system using the grapple hooks.

Other Changes:

Improved boss fight issues causing the boss to fall out the map (we think it of the map (we think it's fixed, but more testing is needed).s fixed but more testing is needed.)
Enemy AI improvements- enemy new backup when to close in combat and will try to dodge when approached when circling the player. This makes a big change to the gameplay feel and overall combat awareness.
Enemy ragdoll changes - enemies now ragdoll more when hit.
New Lighting values were implemented to make the darker shadows.
