Spent more time trying to make this game run at a consistent 60 than actually playing it, i doubt it's my rig when i run SM2 on maxed settings locked at 60 with no drops just fine.

Even for a prologue this was incredibly short, but even worse than that, it didn't play well at all, the movement is all weird and doesn't feel "source like" at all, it was very floaty and even unresponsive at times, and i have no idea if it's because of that bad framerate or if it's meant to be like that...

The physics were also quite all over the place, and worse than what Source managed to do decades ago, i struggled to climb onto props i used to build stairs to reach some parts of the map that were clearly meant to be accessible ( Where you find the Gnome for instance) when i can still do random prop stairs just fine in GMOD / OG source games and have no issues climbing them.

I see a lot of people shilling the visuals, it's even in the description on the store page, but this game really doesn't look that good, it...looks like an unreal engine game in the worst way possible, almost like a parody of everything wrong with said engine, everything is incredibly blurry and it makes no sense and once you disable it, the textures are nothing groundbreaking, they even manage to look really bad once you start focusing on them, the zombies especially looked quite goofy because the snow on their head looks more like a wig than actual snow and the nonsensical lighting of Unreal engine didn't help at all since it kept making it incredibly bright for no reason.

Speaking of the lighting...it's not good and borderline nonsensical at times, for instance the small shack near the end part of the game has a side who's entirely in darkness even tho the rest of the room is bright because of the skylight, and the lit up part of said shack is also not bright enough when you look up and realise how bright it is outside, the entire place should be WAY WAY more bright.

Overall i have no idea how this has so many good reviews, makes me wonder if half of thoses reviews even played the game and ran it at maxed settings ? Because everything that they claim is just plain wrong, it doesn't play well, it doesn't look good and it doesn't run well.

I worked in Project Borealis back in 2017/18, in fact I appear in the credits (as Trebla Freeman), I honestly thought they completly forgot about me after those many years, I don't even know if any of the assets I created ended up on the Ravenholm demo, I remember working on some mud/ground textures and maybe some 3D stuff related to the houses in the beginning.
Idk how is the team or anything else going, but back then, the game director was an egotistical a-hole who doesn't deserve the talented team he has.
Yes, the demo is short too short (at least after 7 years of work lol), a bit buggy, and the physics somehow feel worse than the HL2 original ones. But its still impressive how they almost completely recreated that HL2 feel.
Still, I don't really want to support this ''Icebreaker Industries'' thing, I remember back then, the director/directors of the game wanted people to work for free, to then put the final project as a paid product, also, they don't have any idea of what they are doing, they just where the first ones to create a project as fast as possible to gather people back when the story was published by Marc Laidlaw, and they just ''hired'' as much people as possible, in the end was a bit of a mess of 80 people not even knowing what to do because there was no plan, that's why I'm guessing it took so much time and delivered so little.

If you used the latest Source Engine it would look very similar but run at 100 more fps, and feel more like a Half-Life game, rather than something trying to imitate a Half-Life game.

Was there any particular reason for using the Unreal Engine 5, other than to be able to use the buzz-phrase "We are using Unreal Engine 5"...
