I wanted to give you an update on where we stand with the fix for card packs in MPL.

Throughout December, we encountered critical issues with our backend provider, making it impossible to sustain our online ecosystem at the scale of players we were serving. We initially deployed a temporary solution that restored card pack functionality, but unfortunately, the same issue resurfaced a couple of weeks later.

After thorough investigation, we realized that to ensure Maximum Football and MPL function as intended, we needed to migrate our entire backend system to a new provider. As you can imagine, this was no small task. Our team has been working around the clock to create a long-term solution that eliminates these issues for good.

We are excited to announce that next week, we will be releasing an update that will fully restore MPL and online play, barring any major setbacks in the approval process. Here’s what this means for you:

• Card packs will once again be fully functional.
  
• Any users who made purchases during this downtime will have their inventories restored and will be able to open the packs they purchased.
  
• MPL card customization will be reactivated and will now properly save when exiting the customization menus.

We know that these issues have affected Season Pass progression, preventing many players from unlocking rewards—including the Aircraft Carrier Stadium for premium players at Level 50.

To address this, we will be extending the Season Pass and looking into additional means to give our players ample opportunity to earn their rewards.

This patch isn’t just about MPL and card packs. It will also include:

• Gameplay fixes
  
• AI adjustments
  
• Fixes for frequently exploited online issues
  
• More improvements across the board

We’ll be sharing more details about new features and gameplay adjustments throughout the week on our Maximum Football social channels—so stay tuned!

We want to provide an update regarding the current issue affecting card packs in Maximum Pro League (MPL). We are aware that new users attempting to enter MPL, as well as existing users trying to open card packs, are encountering an error.

We have identified the root cause and are actively working on a solution to restore normal functionality to card pack openings in MPL.

• Existing Card Packs: If you attempt to open a card pack already in your inventory, you will receive a timeout error or a message indicating the card was not created. The pack will remain in your inventory and will not disappear. Once the issue is resolved, you will be able to open all packs you have purchased.
  
• New Purchases: If you attempt to purchase a card pack you don’t currently own, the same error will occur. However, after restarting the game, the currency will be deducted, and the pack will appear in your inventory (marked with “Free x1” in the store). These packs will remain unopened until the issue is fixed.
  
• New Users: MPL relies on the creation of new cards to build your initial team. As a result, new users will not be able to access MPL until the issue is resolved. All starter packs will be available to open once the fix is in place

A fix is in development and will be available in our next update. This fix will take some time and will require a patch for both Steam and Xbox. Until then, we encourage users to NOT attempt to purchase or open packs in MPL.

We understand the frustration this may cause and apologize for the inconvenience. Challenges such as this come with the territory of an early access launch, and we are committed to getting MPL back up and running as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and will continue to provide updates as we implement solutions, including a permanent fix planned for the near future.

Hi, everyone. We have resolved the issue that caused players to lose inventory when opening up packs without receiving items. This is a temporary fix while we work on a permanent solution.

For now, users will be able to purchase and open packs, as expected. However, you may see some unexpected results in terms of customizing your cards. This is an expected bug while we work on a more long term solution.
If
you are still encountering any issues, be sure to completely restart your game. On Steam, exit out of Steam and restart. If you are still encountering issues after these troubleshooting steps, please respond to this post with specifics on how you encountered the error.

We are aware of a bug currently where users are receiving an unknown error when attempting to open packs. This results in the user losing the currency and not receiving the packs. We are working on a solution for this bug now.

We encourage users to please not make purchases of card packs until we update that the issue is resolved.

What’s up Maximum Football community. Today we are launching our 4th update to the Steam Early Access build and 2nd for Xbox Game Preview. This will be our final update of 2024 with our next coming sometime in January of 2025. 
The patch includes:

• Adjustments for defensive back abilities. With our last patch, we over corrected for the number of tipped interceptions and other weird plays in traffic. This update attempts to rebalance interceptions and limit the number of catches made by receivers in double and triple coverage. 
  
• Increase in coin earnings in MPL: We have heard from the start that the current rewards for playing games in MPL made it difficult to accrue enough coins to upgrade players. This patch increases the coin payouts for both online and offline MPL matches. 
  
• Changes to depth chart function in Dynasty: Our longterm goal is to implement the depth chart UI from MPL across all of our modes, but for now we have made a short-term adjustment to the way depth charts work in Dynasty mode. This change should make it easier to rearrange your depth chart.

As the year comes to a close, it’s only natural for us to look back and take stock of where we’ve been. It’s been a banner year for the Maximum Football team with the game launching to Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview at the end of the year. It’s been a long road to get to where we are and there have been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears poured into this project. We are so grateful for everyone in our community for the faith they’ve had in us and their willingness to come along for the ride.

In 2024, we launched our first playable Beta during the Steam Summer Next Fest where we were able to see the first pieces of feedback from the community. Since then, we have made thousands of changes to the game in the lead up to our Early Access launch in November.

With the game now out in the wild, we have gathered hundreds of pieces of feedback and released four updates that have addressed some of the most pressing feedback we’ve received from you.

But the end of the year is also a time for us to look forward. While we are proud of where Maximum Football is as we round out the year, we are even more excited about what’s to come in 2025, and we want you to get excited along with us.

To that end, we are FINALLY ready to reveal our 2025 Roadmap listing features and improvements we will be focusing on when our calendar turns over to January.

Here’s a handy graphic to help you better understand what to expect in the first half of the new year.

Now, let’s break it down.


Since releasing the game, and even prior to, we’ve been listening to the community about what’s most important to them to have included in the game. So our focus for the new year will be as follows:

1. Coach Mode: A highly requested feature from our hardcore sim audience, Coach Mode will allow you to serve as your teams playcaller while allowing the CPU to run the plays once the call is in.
   
2. Invite Multiplayer: What are sports games without a little friendly (or heated) competition. In 2025, we will be adding friend invites to our online offerings.
   
3. Couch co-op: Even better than a digital rivalry is an in-person one. Next year, we will release an update that allows players to compete against one another on the same system.
   
4. Crossplay: One of the keys to a healthy online ecosystem is having a big player base that allows for quick queues and solid connections. That’s why we will be opening up crossplay some time in the new year to allow Steam and Xbox players (and eventually PlayStation) to compete against one another in MPL.
   
5. Franchise Mode: The professional equivalent to Dynasty mode, Franchise mode will allow you to take over as the General Manager of a pro sports franchise in a customizable experience. We will reveal more about Franchise mode as we approach its release.

The 5 items listed above are considered major mode and functionality additions, but they don’t represent the only updates we will be working on. We are also committed to adding other, smaller user-requested features to the game. These include:

1. Weather
   
2. Screens, Draws, and other offensive plays
   
3. Defensive hot routes
   
4. More playcalling options
   
5. Team and roster sharing
   
6. UI adjustments for Roster Management

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but it shows a few key items the team is actively working to add to the game.


Finally, there are several aspects of improvements that will be continuous efforts from the team. We will continue to monitor community feedback for ways to improve quality of life for our players, making adjustments to the things we see coming up the most. Online matchmaking and stability will continue to improve with each update, as well.

Lastly, we are in the process of overhauling our animation system and adding tons of new animations to account for different situations on the field. This will result in a more realistic on-field product both visually and physically.

All of the information including timelines and features are subject to change. We are still committed to listening to our audience and making the adjustments that are most important to you moving forward. Stay tuned for real-time updates as features start to roll out.

What's up, Maximum Football community! We are back with a brand new update that adds a bunch of gameplay improvements, a new ping-based matchmaking system, and more. Here are some of the major additions in this update.

• Added Play Action Passes
  
• Added the ability to flip plays on offense, defense, and special teams
  
• Added situation plays such as Onside Kick, QB Kneel, and QB Spike
  
• Improved contact window for dive tackle animation to prevent defenders from phasing through ball carriers

Why an aircraft carrier?
Because video games should be fun! And we believe that we can create a great simulation football game while also having some wild stadiums to play on. Our focus is still on moving closer and closer to simulation play on the field with each update.

What’s going on everybody. Luke here from the Maximum Football Team here to talk about a few things including our next update, what the team’s working on now, and how you in the Maximum Football community can continue to help us improve the game.

First, let’s talk about the next title update for Maximum Football. With the game releasing on Xbox Game Preview on December 10th, we are holding our next Steam update to coincide with that release and it’s going to include a TON of updates and fixes.

For starters, we are adding a number of new plays to offensive playbooks including playaction. Now, you can set your run game and then beat your opponent over the top with the playfake. This change includes dozens of AI fixes and adjustments to account for the new playtype.

We are also adding in some situational plays like QB kneel, spike, and onside kick. These options will allow you to manage your late game strategy more effectively.

The passing game continues to receive some tweaks and adjustments to make it more responsive. Including making the receivers attack the ball in the air more naturally, reducing defensive back’s catching abilities in traffic so that you will see less catches after being tipped, fixing a bug where receivers would stop their route early,

We have seen clips of diving defenders passing through ball carriers. The next update will give a temporary fix to this issue, allowing the cpu to resolve the play as intended. However, you might see some wonkiness in the animation as we have to do some motion capture to fully resolve the problem.

The update also fixes a ton of bugs including the soft lock on kickoff’s in MPL, challenge progress not tracking appropriately, a few nano blitzes that were being exploited, some issues with possession logic on two point conversions, and more.

You can also now flip your plays from the playcall menu and during an audible.

Players are now no longer able to grief online opponents with endless delay of game penalties. Now, if you abuse delay of game penalty three times in a row, it will result in a change of possession and a reduction in your sportsmanship grade. With each subsequent delay of game penalty the number of allowed delay of games will be reduced by one.

We have also made some tweaks to our profanity filter since it was being a bit overly aggressive…

There are a ton of other changes included in this update that you will be able to check out when we publish the full change log next week.


When it comes to online play, we are actively tracking exploits and overpowered strategies in an attempt to balance gameplay and make online matches play closer to a real life game. This includes fixes to low trajectory kick-offs, overpowered lead blocking plays, adjustments to how AI defenders assess threats to QBs escaping the pocket, and more.

Dynasty mode continues to be an area of focus for the team and we are tracking and investigating a number of reported issues. Changes like adjusting quarter length mid-season, adding the ability to select jerseys pre-game, adjustments to how AI upgrades their players, and more.

We also know two of our most highly requested features are online, invite-only exhibitions for you to play with friends, and coach mode. I can tell you that these are high priority items for the team and while we don’t currently have an exact timeline for their release, they are actively being worked on.

The team is continuing to work on new modes and features that will be rolled out throughout early access. And we will talk about those more when publish our Maximum Football Early Access Roadmap later this month.


The internal changelog for our last 3 updates has hundreds of items on it, and nearly every change can be tied directly back to an Instagram comment, Steam Forum post, Discord bug report, or other community feedback area. When we say we want to build this game alongside you, we meant it. We are listening and we are working tirelessly to make this the best simulation football game on the market.
