very fun with friends <3

Reviewing from a family member's Steam account as I (DrGlaub) played through family library which Steam prevents from allowing you to review games you have not technically owned yourself. Review here after 16 hours of gameplay from us both across accounts and coop.

Travellers Rest (I wish the missing apostrophe was present), is a cozy farming and pub management game. Spend your days gathering, foraging, growing, crafting and fishing to gain ingredients which you can then turn into food and beverages ready for running your tavern by night (or whenever you choose as you can open and close when you please). The gameplay loop is quite fun and rewarding. It does feel a bit of a slog at the beginning, however, once you get going the coins soon rack up. The devs have made the interesting choice not to allow you to sell surplus items which on one hand makes it frustrating when you amass junk such as fished up boots and underpants, but on the other hand really makes you graft for your rewards. Some of the recipes do feel a little complex given that you might need multiple ingredients and these take time to grow and acquire which means at the moment we have chests full of ingredients and the ageing process is a little slow so we run out of lagers quickly but really these are minor tweaks. The dialogue from the NPCs is repetitive and samey which is to be expected but it is amusing. Bonus points for being able to bonk a customer round the head with a broom when they misbehave.

All in all, an enjoyable and rewarding cosy management game made even better by the split screen coop option which has provided us with hours of fun.

A wary recommendation. There's no story or quests yet so what's available is to just slowly grind the game getting a bigger and better tavern until you've had enough.
