How will updates work on switch? The way things usually are im thinking of holding off till i get a pc. I do not wanna wait several months or a year or two for updates.... especially of I got sucked in

So i am at the very first tutorial floor but I dont know what to do. There is the "boss" already beaten by an npc. When hit said NPC only repeats the same phrase to stop me. A room below that one is a chest, but I can't interact with it and I can't find anything else to do there. All other rooms are empty, all npcs in the first room only repeat their phrases, there is no other way to go.
