Suggestions & Problems
Feel free to make suggestions or report problems here.

Before you make a suggestion or report a problem, please note that these have already been mentioned:

Some buttons look like they're greyed out.
The buttons are intentionally silver. I know this might make them appear unclickable, but they're obviously clickable if you hover above them.

The fleet power and naval capacity icons are missing
Again, intentional - it's to make the UI look cleaner. We know what those numbers mean, and for those that don't, hovering about them will inform you. I might add them back in, but they'd be silver or grey, not the regular colours.

The blue upgrade icon is hard to see against most background tiles, especially ocean and continental. The original yellow icon contrasted well against all of them imo

Minor incompatibility with the Planet Diversity mod. Selection indicator outlines on homeworld choice in the species creation section are mis-sized and mis-aligned to the smaller and more numerous planet choices.

Minor incompatibility with mods that increase color choices on flag section of species creation (selection indicator mis-sized).

I'll revist it. I chose blue because out of all the complimentary colours (from white to black, blue to green) it worked best. Though not as good as yellow. It was my mission early on in the mod to eradicate all yellow!

Ok, I'll check these out. Any specific colour mod, or just pick the most popular (not subbed to any at the moment).

I tried it with the two most recently updated ones (48 Empire Colors: Revived), and one that provides a full color pallet.

Ok, I'll check that out tonight. I'm not going to be doing patches for a lot of mods, just a handful of the most popular mods that have a clear incompatibility or need an aesthetics patch (like the colours and PD).

Update: the error with the color mods is also present in the vanilla UI, and is not unique to your mod. So just Planet Diversity.

Totally understand! it's such a minor thing, I'll use your mod regardless. Just thought it was worth bringing to your attention, just in case it was something you wanted to fix.

Is there a chance you could change the colour of the buttons to something else? Now when they're gray it looks like they are unclickable.

@stonetowersage - most of these incompatibilities aren't really dealbreakers.

The Tiny UI series works perfectly fine with Dark UI, it simply overwrites some of my files. Fortunately, the vanilla buttons etc still look pretty good on the dark grey backgrounds.

Planetary Diversity gain works fine, apart from the planet selector icon being misaligned.

It'd work flawlessly in an ideal world, but as long as we're using UI recolouring mods, there are going to be some compromises, though I will try to limit them ;)

@Gabuddy - I know. It was an acceptable compromise for me considering buttons highlight if we can click them, and we get a 'cannot do' pop up if not.

The new upgrade icon looks fantastic, thanks for making the change :)

+1 any chance for a compatibility patch?
I don't know if this has been reported before, but I found a small graphical error in your mod. When you open the New Design menu, especially with a Ship Class mod like NSC, the list selection overshoots the background box.

Looking at the image link below, you'll notice the NSC HQ Station (last one on the bottom) overshoots the box, and is "half" cut-off. You can also see that the listing overshoots because on the bottom right you can see the scroll bar outline shoots down below the box as well. Is there any way you could adjust this? Thanks.

@Rem - patch for colour mods? I should so I will.

@Crusader Vanguard - something there would've been resized for NSC, I should be able to do a patch for it.

Nevermind, dunno why the compatiblity patch you already created for planetary diversity isnt showing up for me when i write "Dark UI" in the search box.. i found it accidentally while browsing mods.
Sorry for bothering you about a thing you already fixed

Have you considered releasing with your Dark UI mod, or at the very least as another "addon" to your Dark UI mod, an updated fonts.gfx file? That's the file that controls fonts, and for my main purpose here, the colors of each font. The file I'm speaking of is located in interface/fonts.gfx. At the top is a listing of "global colors", an RGB value, and the letter associated with it. If you change the "E" value (line 31 in the file), you can change the message font text color for event messages and a few other places. I think changes it to the value of "l", which is a blue, would help make text better mesh with the colors of your UI mod versus the greenish vanilla color.

To give you an example, this is what happens when you change the value of "E" from that "green" (135-255-207) to a blue color also available in the game via "l" (Lowercase "L" - 51-167-255):

The main thing of note of course is the main blue text of the message in the middle of the screen, but if you look at the outliner, much of the font there is now the same blue, and I think it works well with your UI, at least much better than the vanilla default green color.

The honest truth is you could take that file and not only change the color of every single text in-game (which given your complete "look" change seems like a valid overwrite), but you could change the fonts themselves (I didn't dig that deep into this though). Perhaps there is a reason you haven't done this before, but I think it would be a great addition to your overhaul change to the appearance of the game, even if you "make up" your own blue shade to use for the value of "E". If you think this would be better served as another addon, that's fine too. All I ask is you consider adding such font changes to your UI mod (directly or through an addon). Thanks.
