*** just make sure to read the guide and readme info before you start, and dont worry its not one of "those" links lol ***
just beware Local Host matchs are notorious for having bad ping for all the players connecting to the host, mainly cuz residential internet connections dont have good enough upload speed to support a server, so if your friends are far away from your physical location then they will have bad lag
so if your Local Host doesnt work with friends you will have to find a Steam Group Server that allows 8 players, so you want to change the Server Type in the Lobbies Edit Game Settings option to Steam Group Server, then when you start the game as the lobby leader you can pick a server to start your lobby match to from the Steam Group Servers List
*** just dont let all the other players vote to start, or it will pick a random server that might not have 8 players for coop setup and enabled ***
last i knew it shouldnt have anything to do with Sourcemod and/or its plugins, and i can always use the Break option while using this so it shouldnt be the SM plugin packs
otherwise all i did was collected all the necessary plugins to run Superversus in L4D2 from a Windows PC, and a few other good ones we use to fix some stuff or just allow us to change some other stuff, and organized it all into the proper folder structure so its 1 easy copy and paste for users to get in installed into their own games
but if not no worries, if you used our pack on the DG site, all you have to do is go back to where the Steam folder was copied into what your D:/ drive is, although thats usually the disk drive, but it shouldnt mess anything up, it will just make an extra copy on a drive you dont need it on
then copy it again it the correct place in the C:\ then Program Files (x86) folder
although after the last L4D2 update it broke the plugins again but once i can get the updated stuff ill repack it
Anyway, I was wondering which one of the plugins last l4d2 update broke, can it potentially crash the game? (Cause I've been experiencing some very annoying crashed whenever I'm loading up a new custom maps chapter). Can I temporary disable it? I'm hosting a local server, not a dedicated one btw.
Beside those already in your pack I'm using Gear Transfer, Respawn Rescue Closet, Real Zoey Unlock and Survivor_AFK_Fix[Left 4 Fix].
Thanks again and keep up the good work!
also there was a couple other plugins that got Gamedata updates, that go with the plugin file, i think the Survivor Bot Select or Chat Select, and the 8 Player Bug Fixes plugin extension im still hoping for a fix for
i wanna say the SuperVersus plugin fixed the AFK bugs you get, but using the other one shouldnt cause issues
Can you help me pin point the cause here?
which comes from the internet provider you have, and a few other factors:
so 1st make sure your PC is connected directly to your Router with a Ethernet cord, dont use Wi-Fi to connect the PC the server is running on, otherwise even with a 100MBs download and 10MBs upload connection, using wifi your only getting 1MBs upload speed and up to 50 MBs download, also a ethernet cord doesnt have constant fluctuating parameters being a hard line connection, so it helps keep consistency as well
2nd limit all other programs using internet activity while your using the server and/or playing
-
but unfortunately no matter how much you do there is a good chance your Residential internet connection wont be able to upload info fast enough and send it to the other players with a 10MBs upload speed, let alone Commercial Internet connections are set up on a priority gateways
so the short and thick of it is. . . the kind of distance a dedicated server PC running a dedicated game server can reach while reliably connect players with less than 100 ping, is way greater than a personal PC running a game server on a personal internet connection, meaning players will have to be pretty close to your physical location to play with less than 100 ping
yes definitely, you have to be careful of some of the custom maps for L4D2, building a L4D2 map can get much more complex and detailed than say a square CSS style map, so lower quality maps can be uploaded with any number of bugs / glitches in them
and running one of those maps from a server could potentially damage the hardware running it, depending on the type of hardware your PC has, or if you rent a Dedicated Server as well, so avoid the ones with known bugs / crashes
so i can see if a certain part of a map has a big problem that makes my CPU or GPU run extra hard to load the area, or my PC taking a lot of RAM to run the game, for example if you have dropping FPS problems and the game lags, its a good sign something is up and you wanna check your hardware, and that can usually tell you why its happening or at least how its stressing your PC
if you want to check it out we have a Custom Maps List for our DG servers, and all these maps are solid with no big issues, so you can be sure i also found the L4D2 maps in this list to be good to game
