afterwards a game crash, you should put $nodecal 1 in your texture parameters...
Have you been able to repeat this? Try it on a default map without any other addons or custom models in the Gmod directory. I just attempted in game and have not had any problems. It sounds to me like it's due to the models vertex count and how Source handles decals, otherwise its likely that something else other than the model is causing the issue, but overall I don't think it's much of a problem, since under normal circumstances you can't get that many decals on the mesh, and I don't think it's worth removing decals completely for such an isolated crash incident unless more people start reporting the same problem.
