You are correct, I forgot to check to see if Italy was already in the alliance. I will update the mod. Thank you very much.
*EDIT* - This shouldn't happen anymore (update complete), thank you once again.
They already have one via Paradox. I am trying to do focus trees that Paradox have not done. You can check out my Elfangor Season Pass if you want, that has focus trees for several other nations besides the two here.
I plan to get to all of those eventually! Thanks!
Congo was so tightly controlled that not even integrated puppet does it justice. It really was an extension of Belgium. I had originally planned on doing the Congo, but I couldn't justify it.
Egypt is more complicated. They had large amounts of autonomy, but were basically controlled by the British. They were actually neutral for most of the war but war took place on their soil because the British were there. HOI4 is a fun game, but it has its limits, its not a real life simulator. I have no idea how I would represent Egypt being officially neutral with its army not participating, while still having their land being fought over and its control being changed because Britain.
Long story short, I looked into both of these and decided against it, at least for the time being.
This is in contrast the Axis part of the focus tree, where you can get free military factories from Japan and German, so long as you are not at war with them. You don't have to be Fascist, and neither do they, the only requirement is that there's no war between you both. Still, the mod is fantastic and this was the only real issues I ran into with Abyssinia. I haven't tried Liberia yet.
If you need any extra hands/researchers for expanding Africa please say so as I have limited knowledge in mod implementation but have a brain for making systems of art. So yeah! Love Africa getting the attention it deserves. Will test this out soon (outside of Rt56) and give feedback!
Also, I know Lykikki so always glad to see his excellent work being utilised.
I'm waiting for MTG since I know that they will be updating Africa. I was originally going to redraw like all the states, but now Paradox is doing it for me! (It remains to be seen if I need to redraw them any further) While my research was focused mainly on Liberia and Ethiopia (and some exploratory knowledge into some other regions such as the Congo/Egypt), I am always willing to give my opinions/thoughts on things should you decide you want them.
If you are good at art, Africa could always use more portraits, as they are severely lacking.
So I'm going to have to hold off until the 28th? My God I didn't think that wait could seem any longer but I suppose it now does.
Please Rommel/Larinenko/Montgomery/Messe/Li Jen/God, please let it be good. PLEASE LET IT BE GOOD.
Sorry, emosh. I see, Egypt could make for an excellent game, especially it's focus tree. What if fascist/neutral lead to a reestblishment of the Pharoahs, in name? And there was a nice focus tree to lead you through logical stages. Anywhoo. I play the bad guys too often. I see you've already worked on good guys ahaha
I hope South Africa gets some work. Most of my ideas are based around concepts I've played about with during different playthroughs of playing parent to puppeted African states. Like: what would the Nigerian black shirts be called? Would they get units written in Latin from their colonial master? Or would Igbo nationalism lead to a set of 'dark cloak' units (it translates into Igbo well) and the rest of their units could be a hang over from their previous parent Empire, ie, the British?
That, and some sub saharan formables for communist/fascist leanings. Existing formables like Great Zimbabwe could REALLY do with some love/characterisation, as well as their own focus tree upon enaction of the event, much like Transcaucasia, ever played that before? Someone did a really lovely job on it.
I think you'll find that the hardest path for Egypt would be the historical one. The reason I didn't add them in the game is because there is no way that I can think of to represent their historical position in-game other than just being owned by Britain.
Is there a hate club for the South Africa tree that I don't know about? Everyone keeps asking if I'm going to change it, but I like it personally.
I don't know what languages you speak other than English, but if you are looking to research Africa in WW2, be prepared to dig in some remote places. You'd think that Liberia, an English speaking country with ties to the United States would be easy to research, but oh no, there's like no information bloody anywhere! (That said, if you have a JStor account, or a college account affiliated with JStor, your life will likely be a little easier.) Even if you can find the military history, the cultural history beyond "these dudes fought against colonialism" is hard to find. I ended up browsing Somalian forums, and that was an adventure. The edit wars that apparently go on in Wikipedia over which clan did what are apparently legendary.
I do not see myself making any new focus trees unless someone brings something to light about a country's participation in the war that I did not know about, but I will almost certainly be looking to see if I need to add any new tags, redo states, or add leaders/unique ministers/companies.
