SHAPELAB 2025 DLC DESCRIPTION - CHANGES, NEW FEATURES, FIXES, AND IMPROVEMENTS

Customizable Environments

  • Use various environment settings to test and showcase your creations in different lighting and atmospheric conditions.

  • Import HDRIs or set up custom colors to personalize your Skybox, Ambient Light, and Environment Reflections.

  • Configure directional light settings to suit your needs.

  • Toggle the workspace floor on or off as required.

  • Save and load your custom environments for future use.

  • Go to Options → Environments → and click "New" to get started.

Redefined Parametric Primitives

  • Enhanced and fully updated parametric shapes, previously found under “Sculpt Stamp Brush” and “Create Tool.”

  • Includes new UI, presets and additional parameters like bevel, chamfer, taper, and hole.

  • Updated mesh preview.

Gesture-Based Primitive Reshaping

  • Use controller gestures to reshape the selected primitive in your Create Tool (scene mode) or Stamp Tool (edit mode).

  • Press the thumbstick on your primary controller, hold it down and move your controller around to adjust XYZ scale values and the overall size of the shape.

Custom Fixed Shapes and Templates for Kitbashing

  • Fully customize what shapes you are spawning with the Create Tool.

  • Add selected 3D objects to your shape library for use with the Create Tool. While this functionality is currently limited to the Create Tool, we are exploring ways to integrate it with the Sculpt Stamp feature without compromising stability or performance.

  • Directly import objects into your shape library from your device (.OBJ, .FBX) or add selected shapes from the scene.

  • Additionally, we provided a number of predesigned fixed shapes for use with the Create Tool.

Cursor Snapping by Angle and Grid

  • Apply angle and grid snapping constraints to your Create Tool or Sculpt Tool cursors for a more organized workflow.

  • Use the same constraints when grabbing and moving objects to simplify arrangements.

  • Customize increments and coordinate spaces to suit your specific needs.

  • Tilt your secondary controller towards you to open the collapsible snapping constraints menu. All settings are synced with the Context Menu’s Transform Tab.

Dynamic Brush Sizing by Scene or View

  • A new brush scaling option adjusts the cursor size relative to the scene, ensuring consistent brush stroke sizes regardless of zoom level.

  • When enabled, the brush size remains constant relative to the model, making it easier to maintain uniformity. It’s especially useful when frequently zooming in and out while sculpting.

  • This feature is particularly valuable for 3D Stamping objects of the same size or spawning uniformly sized items with the Create Tool while navigating and zooming around in a 3D space.

  • Press the newly added settings button next to the brush size slider to toggle between size handling options.

Navigation Settings, Scene Grab

  • You can now enable simultaneous scene and object grabbing, which automatically disables pinch scaling gestures for objects.

  • This feature complements the option to customize what your dominant grip button does when pressed in the void while in scene mode: grab the scene, grab the selected object, or do nothing.

  • Additionally, you can now adjust the Thumbstick Scaling Sensitivity, which influences both brush scaling and the speed of object resizing when using the thumbstick while the object is grabbed.

  • Go to Options → VR Settings → Controls to customize the default settings.

Scene Alignment Tools

  • Below the Snapping features, you'll find three new scene alignment tools for quick adjustments:

  • Reset Zoom: Resets the scene's root scale to its default value.

  • Fit Scene: Adjusts the zoom level to ensure the entire content fits within view.

  • Upright Lock: Instantly aligns the scene upright and locks it, preventing any changes through controller gestures or navigation.

  • Tilt your secondary controller towards you to open the collapsible snapping constraints menu. All settings are synced with the Context Menu’s Transform Tab.

Improvements and Fixes

  • Context Menu: The Open/Close animation has been removed, and auto-positioning has been improved and simplified.

  • The app now remembers the last used display and relocates itself to the correct screen on launch.

  • Improved Import/Export with fixes, such as resolving scale issues in hierarchized FBX models.

  • The export process no longer generates 0KB files when interrupted.

  • Fixed the visual issues in the file browser's thumbnail view.

  • Resolved the issue where the export file browser's UI wasn’t refreshing properly.

  • Fixed visible cracks on objects with certain materials and shading setups.

  • The brush cursor can now be made much more visible than before. Find the configuration options under Options → Desktop / VR settings.

  • The animation under the Context Menu’s Transform tab is now hidden in tooltips to save space.

  • The Create Tool and Stamp Tool shape preview visualization has been improved and now auto-hides when the user isn't hovering over the UI.

  • The Stroke Spacing checkbox under the Brush modifier panel’s Stroke settings, which was malfunctioning, now works properly.

  • Gizmos no longer dynamically rescale with objects in VR.

  • Updated Outliner UI.

  • Fixed an issue with Windows Mixed Reality thumbstick, which consistently signaled a value, triggering scrolling and pull/push actions without user input. This has been resolved with a higher threshold.

  • The Steam version of the launcher automatically quits when the Shapelab app is closed.

  • Each selection correctly sets the active object, ensuring the most recently selected one is always active.
