What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is being developed by a single person. In order to allow it to be developed as a full time job the game is being released in early access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Until all the core mechanics and features are implemented and refined. Approximatelly 1 or 2 years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access, our goal is to deliver each core mechanic in its foundational state. With community feedback, we plan to refine and expand these mechanics. Our aim is to create an enjoyable experience with a progression system that offers meaningful goals, encouraging players to stay engaged across multiple game sessions.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game already has a simple gameplay loop. You can build walls and towers to defend the picnic and see how far you can reach. After each game session you'll receive a currency called "butiá" that you can use to enable small upgrades for your next time.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. Accordingly to the reached goals of features the game price will be adjusted when 1.0 is launched.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will be involved as much as possible during the development in order to see which features should be focused first to please and bring a fun experience to its supporters during the early access phase.

To ensure consistent communication, we’ll engage with players through:

- Steam Discussion Forums: For open conversations, bug reports, and suggestions.
- Social Media Channels: Regular updates and polls for player input.
- Discord Server: A community hub for real-time discussions and sneak peeks at upcoming content.”

About This Game

ANTD is a tower defense game where you’ll defend your picnic set against waves of relentless ants. Unlike most games in the genre, ANTD stands out by having no predefined routes. Instead, players must create their own intricate layers of defense to guide enemies strategically.

Your arsenal includes plastic cups with straws that shoot seeds as towers, and walls made of various types of bread. The ultimate prize for the ants is your cake, and it’s up to you to protect it at all costs. You can even use small candies as bait to distract the ants and buy yourself some time.

Each session offers small upgrades to help you survive additional waves, and achievements unlock cosmetics to customize your picnic set.

Get to know a few of the mechanics below:

  • Ants: These pesky enemies are determined to raid your picnic set! They’ll follow the shortest path to the cake unless distracted by baits or blocked entirely. If their path is fully obstructed, they’ll relentlessly destroy anything in their way to forge a new route.

  • Towers: Your primary defense against the ants. Towers shoot seeds and can be upgraded to use different types of seeds with unique properties. For example, strawberry seeds are small and fast, while watermelon seeds are large and can hit multiple ants at once.

  • Walls: Use various types of bread to build walls. Walls are ideal for constructing paths because they’re cheaper and sturdier than towers, providing strategic options to funnel the ants.

  • Baits: Ants can’t resist sweet treats like cherries, sugar cubes, or even "butiá" (a small, sweet orange fruit native to South America). When ants pass near these baits, they’ll stop to eat before continuing their march toward the cake.

  • Nests: These spawn the ants and can multiply after each wave. Be careful not to let the nests overwhelm you, but remember that more nests mean more resources to collect. Find a balance between destroying nests with your towers and leaving enough to farm resources by defeating their troops.
