The genres we are trying to mix are tricky, and we are constantly working hard to blend them together while ensuring the gameplay is fun and feels connected.

Early Access provides an opportunity to collaborate with our players while we expand the game with new features and improvements.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We estimate that Birates will remain in Early Access for 12 to 18 months. However, this timeframe may adjust based on the scope of feedback we receive and the complexity of features we aim to implement. Our goal is to ensure the game is polished and complete before leaving Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is intended to feature additional content and enhancements based on player feedback. We aim to expand our skill catalog and powerup mechanics to enhance player runs, ensuring every run feels unique.

Additionally, we would like to explore different game modes where the objectives and gameplay experience could be entirely different. Significant optimization and balancing improvements are also planned as we continue to refine the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Birates is fully playable and offers a rich gameplay experience. Players can engage in day-night cycles with daytime crafting and nighttime combat, and use one of six weapon types—Longsword, Staff, Bow, Dagger, Club & Shield, and Spear—each with upgradeable abilities.

The game includes 10+ player abilities and 40+ powerups that can inspire and shape player builds. There are multiple biomes to explore and four main boss fights to challenge players.

The game also supports multiplayer for up to five players.

While the core mechanics are functional and engaging, we recognize areas for improvement and are actively working to address them.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of Birates may slightly increase when the game exits Early Access to reflect the additional content and features added during development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community involvement is central to the development of Birates. We plan to engage with players through our Steam Community page and social media platforms, where they can share feedback, report bugs, and suggest improvements.

We will provide regular updates on our progress, including development logs and roadmaps. Transparency and open communication will guide our approach to building a game that players love.”
