Background of the MS Estonia

The MS Estonia, a tragic chapter in maritime history, was a passenger ferry that sank in the Baltic Sea on September 28, 1994. Departing from Tallinn, Estonia, en route to Stockholm, Sweden, the vessel met its end in a violent storm.
