“The core magical action combat of HexWind is in good shape, and now we want to bring players and their feedback into the process of finishing the game, informing decisions about enemies, special abilities, and mission types.”

“Our plan is for HexWind to be in Early Access until June 2025.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to include many more enemies, special abilities, and mission types - built off the core magic action combat in currently present in HexWind. On top of what's in the current build, here's what we're working on for upcoming releases:

Story Chapter 1: Unlock the Chaos Monolith - Break open a powerful relic and bind its Chaos energy
Attack combos: Charge up your combo meter by chaining hits, to unlock a powerful area attack
Persistent upgrades: Gain health, offensive, and defensive upgrades that carry over from mission to mission
Lighting magic: Grapple - use your elemental power to zap around the combat arena
Defensive shields: protect yourself with area-based throwable magic shields
And many more which we'll outline in our roadmap!

“The current state of Early Access for HexWind is that core magic action combat is in a good state, with rogue-lite ability progression, and dynamic mission generation and choices. You'll experience:

Wand Combat - Shoot magic charges from your wand and parry incoming attacks
Chaos Rift Battles: Waves of enemies are breaking through! Use the Riftsealer Codex to halt their progress.
Lightning Spells: Chain strike enemies, impale them, and slam them into the ground
Character Progression v1: Upgrade your core stats and abilities
Blessings: choose which buffs to take into each encounter to improve your chances of success
