Why Early Access?

“We chose Early Access because Spell Hell is missing a fair amount of crucial features. With help from the community for steering what direction the game will go and balancing, we'll be able to finish the game to a full 1.0 release standard.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game is planned to stay in early access until we have finished the majority of the planned full version features. We are aiming for 2–3 months of development time to complete this. Of course we'll also continue supporting the game after leaving Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to have more game modes implemented, and current game modes changed, both based on community feedback.
The full version is planned to be fully stylized, with art passes for all game effects and sound passes done to make a more complete experience.
We are hoping to improve on the selection of build/upgrades for players to choose from, which are planned to be developed using feedback from early access.
Instead of being limited to a singleplayer-only experience, the full version is planned to have a leaderboard and ranking in place.
The balance and overall experience of the full version is very likely to be much more polished.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the Early Access version has 25 handcrafted waves, with dynamic difficulty scaling, and a basic endless mode.
The game also allows for a dozen few unique builds. All the fundamental interactions between enemies and player are also present.
Basic effects are also in place, like sounds, animations, UI animations.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Very likely, the early access release is the most experimental. Not everything is perfectly on point yet. The 1.0 version will have many more features & present an overall richer experience. So it will most likely be priced higher when the time comes.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“All feedback is welcome, both on Steam and elsewhere. We'll be working closely with the community in order to polish, change and overall improve all aspects of the game.
In addition, we are planning to be taking directions from the community feedback in the form of build concept votes, game mode balance/general movement balance. We also wish to be closely listening to the community's opinions on the general direction of the game, and to hear the most requested features and ideas.”
