About This Game

One More Encounter: The Game That Never Was

On November 17, 1992, a small group of three developers released a video game like no other. Only available for the NEC PC-9801 computer, this was the most ambitious game the industry had ever conceived. Unfortunately, it was a sales failure and was lost in the abyss of time.

More than 30 years later, One More Encounter (a.k.a OME) has been partially revived. One More Encounter was a dungeon crawler where the important thing was not the motif, but the journey itself and the characters we encountered along the way. Unfortunately, only 0.35% of the total game could be saved. That is, of the more than two thousand possible encounters in the game, this version only contains seven.

Be that as it may, this is a look at a world that could have been, an industry that never really took hold, and a type of videogame that, so many years later, we are still struggling to make.

  • Over 6 different characters (there are 8 characters)

  • More than 20 minutes of gameplay (if you're a slow reader)

  • Two or more endings (but you can only get one)

  • Dynamic narrative text (because one letter appears after another)

Disclaimer

Due to problems with the game executable itself, it may have to be restarted several times to complete the game fully. We have tried our best not to do this, but something has prevented us from doing so. We have not been able to find the reason. We hope that, with your help, we can solve this mystery together.
