What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access will allow a buffer period to balance the game with increased player feedback and take suggestions for gameplay improvements. Our primary focus is to add quality-of-life changes, add additional content, and account for any final feature suggestions from the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're aiming for a relatively short period of 6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will simply have more polish and content. With enough early support, the primary features we'd like to implement are sound design elements primarily for racers, additional original music tracks (and eventual OST), and graphical passes for all visual areas. Once we have all these elements in for an enhanced cohesive experience, we'll consider the base game complete.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core game mechanics are present. These include:
- A handful of racers and tracks to choose from.
- Time trial and AI combat race modes.
- Earnable credits and simple cosmetics and racer upgrades.
- Player profile with earned trophies, rank system, and stats tracking.
- Leaderboards with the ability to race against other players' ghosts.

DEATHGRIP's estimated playtime depends greatly on the player's investment in mastering the racers and tracks. The game is designed to be challenging so winning the top trophies is meaningful. Naturally this will lead to many attempts at achieving high placement. We hope to give average dedicated player about ~10-15 hours of playtime to complete/unlock all content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game's pricetag will increase marginally to account for its additional content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We hope to involve the community in balancing racers, credits, combat, and difficulty. Their participation will help us gauge the general fun factor, as well as determine and calibrate the expected playtime. We'll be gathering player suggestions for improving replayability including racer customization options, desired game modes, and other features. We'll be creating survey forms for each update and sharing pending concepts for core content such as racers and tracks for community feedback.”

About This Game

DEATHGRIP invites the player to the jump in the pilot's seat of some of the fastest and most lethal hovercrafts ever seen and dominate the tracks they compete on. Navigate natural environments through split paths, twists, turns, jumps, shortcuts, and narrow corridors in an intense race to the finish.

DEATHGRIP introduces a depth to its racing controls that challenges the player to explore the skill ceiling. From afterburner allowed at any time to pitching, rolling, drifting, repairing, managing heat, and firing weapons, one should take pride in their ability to master a racer.

It is an experience meant to be visceral, brutal, exciting, and intense, centered on offering players instant enjoyment without gimmicks and an extended sense of achievement for those competitive and dedicated enough to get the most out of the game.

The base release will include (at a minimum) the following features:

8 Unique Racers
All racers share the same functionality, but each has it's own strengths and weaknesses to suit different playstyles.

10 Distinct Tracks
Race across 10 environments on 10 tracks over terrain filled with obstacles, jumps, drops, shortcuts, multiple paths, and other challenges.

Combat Racing
Race against AI with offensive and defensive armaments. Outfit your racer with cannons, shotguns, missiles, countermeasures, and more. Witness the carnage as the track turns into a battlefield.

Time Trials and leaderboards
Best times across the game are saved as ghosts. Compete against your own times, challenge the ghosts of your friends or compete those of the top ranking players on the leaderboards.

Credits and Upgrades
Earn credits from winning and spend them on visual and performance upgrades to suit your playstyle. Choose from multiple parts to spec out your racer for speed,
