Why Early Access?

“Aardvark is a new kind of multi-app multi-user platform. Taking feedback from the community of developers and users and incorporating that feedback into Aardvark will be an important part of determining in what direction the platform needs to move. Using Early Access for the Aardvark beta allows Steam users to participate in that conversation more easily.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“Roughly one year, but it will depend on what feedback happens in that time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“There are several key features that are missing (for instance, Aardvark gadgets have no awareness of what underlying app is running.) The UI is also currently very rough and will see significant improvement before Aardvark leaves beta/Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Basic UI and a basic gadget API are both available now. Both will improve over time as the beta continues.”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We expect Aardvark to remain free forever.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will depend on the community for many things:

• Bug reports
  
• Gadget development
  
• Gadget ideas
  
• Open source contributions
  
• Feedback

All of the above will take many forms, including issues and pull requests on Github, posts on the Steam Forums, entirely new developement efforts, etc. Aardvark needs your help to make it all it can be.”
