To make the last jump reliably: Place the exit portal (near blue gel) as high as you can. That way, when you go through portal, you get closer to destination before jumping, plus you jump that little bit higher.

Played through portal stories mod twice, really great. This is one of the best atmospheric maps I have played, ty for the work.

Interesting design, well mapped. The last jump I noticed needed bounce gel very close to the portal. Guess thats why it came out at an angle. Twisting the portal got it up close and boom I was over. Thx 4 the run.

A critical flaw I cannot find a work around, even in no clip;
The damned thing ENDS.
I could wander around forever in this kind of map, it's like - - - - an alternate reality.
God, I've got to quit this, cold turkey i guess.

The jump at the end ruined it. Took 5 tries. I finally succeeded by suicidally jumping without reaching the bouncy gel because I figured I should try doing it wrong if doing it right isn't working.

Great work, well done. Just one detail: Don't break the chain of community-maps. (After the outro the player gets send to the main menu which isn't always that great.)

visualy great.
good puzzles.
I liked the links to previous chambers, to solve the present one.
suggested improvements:
after playing mel stories & portal campaigns.
I expected to hear a voice.
If you add this. it will round it off perfectly.
It could add to the storyline too.
also on a technical issue:
at the end, the message asking for feedback, comes up.
then it fails to go to this page.
we are not even in our community maps list.
so a lot of people might not rate or comment.
(I know a lot have. but a lot more might have ?)

I just had to install a 167MB patch via steam. Now the level I am on has a grate with no clip and yellow trigger brushes all over the place.

You have to use the hammer world editor!
Go to library -> tools -> and download "Portal 2 authoring tools"

With hammer you can create any type of chamber you want!

Oh another thing.... the map ends and brings the player back to the main menu instead of the "next map" default screen. That kinda sucks. The whole thing feels like an unfinished untested product. Too bad because the puzzle itself was original and fun.

It was a nicely designed map with great visuals but no optimization for speed and it bogged down my NVIDIA graphic card badly... and it's a pretty high end card so.....

@Barlangi; Yes, it is. I've updated the description of the map to reflect the fact that this is a very outdated version of the map. The version in the mod is a lot better optimized and the gameplay has improved significantly as well.

That last jump i missed my mark about 5 times and ended up having to use noclip. You might want to add some path correcting script to fix that or make the jump a little better >.>

Better than anything I have played from the workshop. Not that hard, pretty straightforward, but fun to play. Haven't have experienced the "why am I so dumb" situation recently :D Now waiting for PS: Mel

Now about the map:
1. That last jump takes me 5 tries... isn't that too far?
2. I fall to my death so many times unexpectly. There should not be that many place that you can go through while you shouldn't - that's just unfair and confusing. Block'em for good!

In the first room, I kept on trying to fling myself accross it with a double portal launch maneuver using the flipping wall. with and without boxes. I'm glad that solution was posted, or I would never have realised that my method was wrong and it was much simpler the other way.

@devlinv1; instead of using orange gel to speed yourself up, you can also use height!

Note that this is a very outdated map, the version in the mod will be significantly different!

I need a clue for the ending. I'm messing up something somewhere. I get to the last part where you're meant to run across the orange gel, through the portal, bounce off the blue, and land on the catwalk, but I don't make it far enough. I keep hitting the catwalk with the center of my body and plummeting to my death. What am I messing up?

that was a pretty great map, i was looking forward to seeing what was behind that door, i guess we'll never know. :p Ooo, a new mod? I cant wait! One of the gel tubes doesn't have a colision model though and i walked right through it, i was hoping there was something interesting back there, but i guess not. 8.5/10

I know this is O L D M A P but still - it seems odd that you use the two boxes up until test 2, and then just leave them there. I tried to bring them with me and was kind of disappointed.

I also had some trouble getting enough speed to get on the final bridge. Placing the portal higher on the little panel seemed to help.

Just played the updated version of this. I liked the fire and final landing shake. Was also good to see lighting improvements on certain walls that looked too dark before and more easily visable signage as where to place those last few portals (to get to the second pump station).

I found a slight bug though with the flexi-vactube under the last fizzler wall, it seems to have its collisions set to non-solid as you can walk right through it and under the walkway.

Awesome map still though. Feels good to go back to a past favorite and find improvements.

Oh well, I'll be working on a mod too, when I can finally get a PC and use Hammer and Quake. Can take me just weeks or years to finish, yeah custom lines, cutscenes, custom captions etc. I'll put it on thinkingwithportals.com but will take me 2-3 years but for the players for total time I'm expecting is 1-2 days to finish ENTIRELY.

We hope to release the mod as soon as possible, but quality has always been our number one priority. Infact; I am currently patiently awaiting a new compile of this map that should increase performance a bit and will look better, and fix some other things for the inclusion in the mod.

@pacman47-49 the holdup is the fact that we're working on a 15-maps mod. ALL having some challenging puzzles, all having a hell of a lot details, all being part of a custom story, all custom voice lines, all custom captions in various languages.
