updated: increased vertical lift power.

Reminds me of the Rhino from Galaxy On Fire 2.

@wildcard, neato, the lexington will make a fine addition to my fleet.
Wildcard  [pembuat] 5 Apr 2016 @ 1:10pm
@jaxjace, it can land and leave planets. Just have to be careful with when you turn on your hydrogen engines. You should be able to stage your climb out of a planet.
jaxjace 5 Apr 2016 @ 12:34pm
@Wildcard, naturally i assumed it wouldnt be super agile, I am wondering specifically if its capable of landing on and leaving planets.
Wildcard  [pembuat] 5 Apr 2016 @ 11:33am
@jaxjace Don't expect it to move like a fighter. It's big and heavy and takes a bit of time to respond. That being said, I have heard of people doing barrel rolls and loop to loops in atmosphere with this thing.
jaxjace 4 Apr 2016 @ 11:09pm
What is its atmoshperic limitations?

...Furthermore, a ship's class is merely a designation, mainly for a hull configuration. A "Lexington class" Corvette class ship will look like ^ this ^. It may have different things on, in, or with it, but it will still be a Lexington class Corvette. If I replaced the gatlings with rockets, changed the armor at the rear, added 20 more holy antennas batman and more cargo space, removed the atmospheric capability to improve spaceflight... It will still be a Lexington class Corvette. All it's for is easily identifying a layout and design for a Corvette, with more clarity, and convenience, than "that specific Corvette, y'know, the one where the first one they made was named the Lexington". It took me a long time to understand that myself, part of the confusion coming from the fact that "Lexington", and "Corvette", for example, are both TYPES of "class", but in a different meaning. Hard to fix that tho.

...Here, have a rant. I've always wanted to give this rant.

Sweet!

I tried to keep within the bounds of modern real world wet navy displacements when determining classifications.

I guess its completely authors Choice to call his ship whatever he likes, i've Seen some frigates in the past way too Small in my eyes and destroyers that could easily be classified as battleships or dreadnoughts, but nice explanation at all. Makes it more easy for me in Future to classify my own ships.
To THE Lexington: amaizing work, nice Design, keep it up man, really like it

I hate comments with character limits... It makes these posts so ugly...

@ZeroWarPlan3t: We also run into a problem because no one in Space Engineers has actually laid down classification guildines, so I can take any ship off the workshop and call it anything it want within reason. For example, if we take the IDMC Protos class Corvette which (I belive) is more than 2.3 million kg (I don't have the game open right now and don't have the time but this is clearly an example), that would be well over a military classification of Corvette due to the actualy classification of Corvette is under 1.8 million kg and would better be classified as a Frigate due to it's mass.

Oh btw, this is how you tell someone they're wrong without restorting to call their time and effort, "♥♥♥♥." Just because you like large, unwealdy, fat assed ships that go zero to ten m/s in 3.4 minutes doesn't mean other's do as well. If you don't like it dont download it... Simple as that... I hate trolls...
Geech6 2 Apr 2016 @ 10:03am
@Zer0WarPlan3t: You sir, obviously don't understand naval parlance... The classification of Corvette is normaly used for the smallest ship of the line (to a certain degree), and the fastest ship of the line. This classification of "the line" is quite nessesary because, scout ships and exploration ships would generally be unarmed and not contained within a military fleet. Considering this ship is lightly armed and lightly armored, it well deserves the classification of Corvette. In more general terms, history has never actually decided on the class conventions or what the real rules are, but the rules are clear that it's based on raw tonnage not length for any naval class.
Geech6 2 Apr 2016 @ 10:02am
@CelticScorpion: In naval terms the first ship built of a new design is the name of the design, in this case we can have the Concord and the Bunker Hill which are two Lexington class Corvette, and the Lexington which is a Lexington class Corvette, but would not be refered to as such, it would just be refered to as the Lexingon or THE Lexington class Corvette because it's the first of it's class.

The sheer salt coming from Zer0... Great profile, huge fan of Ventral bridges!
Zer0WarPlan3T 2 Apr 2016 @ 12:33am
better make a titan class ship 500m-2km :steamhappy:
Zer0WarPlan3T 2 Apr 2016 @ 12:32am
This isnt a corvette - thats some kind of small ship, but sry bro it looks rly ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Zer0WarPlan3T 2 Apr 2016 @ 12:32am
and yeah corvette should be way too bigger - like 150-200m
Zer0WarPlan3T 2 Apr 2016 @ 12:30am
looks like ♥♥♥♥ :steambored:
PotentiallyDodgy 1 Apr 2016 @ 9:47pm
make a enterprise carrier lol
High Ground 1 Apr 2016 @ 8:51pm
OK, I love the over all look of the ship, and the fact that it can operate inside a planetary atmosphere, make the ship very versatile.

I do have concerns about the bridge, the only control stations on the entire ship, and its totally exposed, one good hit and your dead in space.

Internal lay out in no bad (I've seen worse... much worse) but it could be streamlined further, which would give you the ability to have a fully 3/4 upgrade-able assembler as well.

I like the extra antennas, but I don't like having them (all) near the business end of the ship. I see you added heavy armor to take incoming fire (always a good move) but your antennas will get knocked out pretty quickly in a fight. And as much as those cost, you want them to be out of harms way.

All in all, this is a good ship, with the potential to become a great ship.
Wildcard  [pembuat] 1 Apr 2016 @ 5:02pm
The class is a Corvette. Lexington is the name of the type of corvette. You'll also noticed that most of my cap ships are named after places, except for the largest which are named after ideas.
Sandst4rm 1 Apr 2016 @ 4:28pm
lexington*
Sandst4rm 1 Apr 2016 @ 4:28pm
Hey @wildcard, don't mean to be mean here, but why does everything have a random "class" suddenly, like i dont think lexigton is a "class" for a spacecraft. just saying.
Nuri 1 Apr 2016 @ 9:07am
Looks good!
Guardsman Miku 31 Mar 2016 @ 1:06pm
Gotta say, that is a very fancy front end
