There's no need of actual maps anymore, model maps can actually handle specular and other VMT settings while world (map) textures can't handle these, and you don't even need to actually change maps for scenes, you could just put any of the rooms/landscapes in the map to your desire, while real maps will wont be able to do that, and you don't even need actual collusions since it's just animating.
I'd really love to see natural landscapes like forests that are model maps.
