I would love a flashlight mod that made it so teammates couldn't blind my ass all the damn time.

@munchiesnOOb you'll probably get more help in the INS/DOI discord channel. https://discordapp.com/channels/199894918792085504/199894918792085504

Okay, I got my mod to work, but do you know why the texture is tessellating all the way across my screen, like a hundred flashlight textures?

Cow Obliterated By Train 25 apr 2017 om 19:57
Hey, if you could help me out with how you did this, I'd appreciate it.
Finished the beam's texture, but not sure how to upload it correctly.

I'm looking to make a flashlight skin mod that replicates the Hensoldt light they used to use on MP5s, where its a regular beam with a crosshair projection, almost like a hybrid of a scope, laser, and flashlight, do you know if there's a simple guide for making this kind of mod?

@N8, Yep that is perfectly fine. As long as you provide credit which you say so, it's all good. Hope your theater mod goes well! :blissful_creep:
Nate 8 jan 2017 om 22:28
Love this flashlight... thumbs up and favorited for a while! Can I include this in a theater mod I'm working on? I would credit you and link back here if that's ok?

best flashlight mod once you finally get it working... five stars *****
Nate 3 dec 2016 om 22:19
To those saying it doesn't work... get GCFScape for free. Subscribe to this. Go to your workshop folder and find this folder '465405802'. Rename the .bin file to .vpk. Open it with GCFScape, and drag the contents out to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\insurgency2\insurgency\custom\workshop" it should work from this point on.

Karpp 25 mrt 2016 om 9:09
it seems that only the insurgent side flashlight is working for me, any ideas?
Kayhex 1 mrt 2016 om 19:51
This is still an amazing mod, If you have any problems I solved mine by coping the .VPK file in my workshop folder and pasting it in my Custom folder. Looks amazing in game and is a bit brighter so it gives you a slight advantage. Great work!
[ vl ] r0cK 28 dec 2015 om 12:02
Awesome, at first it was not working. But all of the sudden it worked. I love it :)
Psycho8Vegemite  [auteur] 15 aug 2015 om 0:53
@Javi you have to follow the instructions in the 'Other information' section. Go to your 'steam/steamapps/common/insurgency/insugency2/custom/workshop' and search '465405802' then when you have those files, copy and paste them to your custom folder before the workshop.

doesn't work no idea why =\
Rev 18 jul 2015 om 21:52
Does this change the color tint of the light too? Ive really been looking for a proper LED mod
Rev 18 jul 2015 om 21:47
awesome
aus1271 22 jun 2015 om 22:29
So putting the .VPK in the "custom" folder makes it work, even with all of my other mods loaded. However, it doesn't work if its in my workshop folder, even if it is last in my load order. Not sure whats going on. I am not aware of any other mod that overwrites this texture. If I find one, I will let you know. Anyway, dont worry about it for now as i seem to be the only one having a problem. I really like the mod, it is a great subtle improvement. Hopefully the devs seperate the flashlight textures for the SEC and INS in the future so that you can make a different one for INS. Either way, well done.
Psycho8Vegemite  [auteur] 22 jun 2015 om 21:09
@aus1271 Hmm, alright, try both methods below and hopefully we can get this to work:

1) Go to your program files/steam/steamapps/common/insurgency2/insurgency/custom/workshop and search up ' 465405802 '. If files other than images pop up, move onto method 2; else load up Insurgency and run it in the menu for a few minutes after all the mods have loaded then play the game and see, retry this a couple times if it doesn't work, after if nothing works and there is no file come to {LINK VERWIJDERD} link and move onto method 2.

2) Once you have your file copy and paste the file into the folder previous to your workshop known as custom so that there is the file file in both the workshop and custom file then try and run the game. This will make that file load on start and so should work.
Psycho8Vegemite  [auteur] 22 jun 2015 om 21:09
If these don't work than the only other answer is that there is a mod overruling this one, think of any texture mods like overhauls or something and open the mods with an application called GCFscape looking for a mod under the directory of materials/effects/flashlight001.vtf if there is a mod like that you can unpack the mod by dragging from the root onto your desktop, deleting the 'flashlight001.vtf' file and renaming the root file as the mod. then in steam/steamapps/common/insurgency/bin you'll find a exe called VPK. Drag the folder onto that exe and a new file will appear. Replace the mod with the modded mod now.

Hope somewhere in this the problem will be fixed. Wish you luck mate.

This looks awesome but is not working for me. I have tons of mods installed but nothing that should conflict with this. Any Idea what could be causing this?
static 21 jun 2015 om 16:51
Right on, thanks for the explanation Psycho8Gamer. Nice work on creating the artifacts and effects in the light; it looks much better than the original!
Psycho8Vegemite  [auteur] 21 jun 2015 om 0:59
@neiio Nah, it's not possible at the moment, but the same thing happened with the 7x reticles, it might just be possible later on.

@static Thanks! Nah, it's a before and after type thing, the first one is the original, the second is the new, for the moment being, I can't replace seperate textures for Security forces and Insurgent forces.

@Baz00ka It's a texture I made a long time ago for a game I was working on, however died in development. I was sort of showing off the seperate LEDs inside the flashlight and also so it looked sort of like an L-Torch; that's how it got the triangle look to it.
Baz00ka 20 jun 2015 om 22:04
Why it is triangle inside circle?
smgunsftw 20 jun 2015 om 18:32
@nelio, I don't think it's possible, since both factions share the same flashlight effect. (Not the same NVG effect though)
AdayDr1en 20 jun 2015 om 18:18
Thanks a bunch ! Much better looking than the old one. :)
static 20 jun 2015 om 18:11
Rated and subbed, great job! I'm curious as to what the difference is between the two light textures shown. Is one for security and one for the insurgents? Thanks!
Lt. McDonalds Nuggy 20 jun 2015 om 17:08
Awesome! Subsribed as soon as I saw it. Would it be possible to keep the old flashlight texture for Insurgents and the new one for Security? It might be outside of what is possible for INS.
