when the map changes it no longer works at all. it makes the beam but it doesnt damage anything or propel you.

This can’t technically be a jetpack, because that would require the laser to be propulsion. However, if the laser created enough heat on impact to make an explosive shockwave, that could launch yoy, but that would mean it’s not a jetpack.

This makes literally no sense whatsoever. Lasers do not have mass because they are light. Photons cannot push objects because they do not have mass. This means it's impossible for something like this to exist as it's physically impossible.

there's another mod that has this same effect, the result is a missing texture spawn menu!
Also the machine gun jetpack works just fine
maybe this will help :

The only logical way it could boost you at all is by generating a flash heatwave which blast you back like a nuclear blast but obviously that kills you...

This isn't how lasers work. This is actually impossible. Light doesn't have mass, so they are incapable of applying any type of force against an object.
