That's great but im not trying to disable l4d1 grunts, i just removed pain sounds from the equation so that i don't have to mod them in my future l4d1 voice mods.

You can just disable L4D1 grunts in the original.

Just removed all unnecessary survivors voice lines and and leave only the true ones Rochell and Ellis "chargerrunningwithplayer" lines. It will be really cool
