Unfortunately there are a lot of places in the game code where they are assumed to be contiguous. While possible, it would be a mess and likely buggy as hell.

It does not.
IIRC, deselecting the previous zone before painting the new does prevent it though.

To clarify, does this disable the vanilla auto-merging of zones that can happen? I've always found it frustrating when trying to grow different crops next to eachother, but this might be the opposite problem that this mod is solving haha... :steamsad:

No one was clamoring for it. I got an idea, thought it would be fun to make and made it. 500 people thought it was useful enough to warrant subscribing. What is the problem? No one is saying you have to use it.

No, you're not missing anything. The use is just when you have two zones, but you no longer want them to be separate. You could delete one and expand the other, but this is more convenient.

That is the definition of a QoL mod - one that doesn't add any new mechanics or content to the game, just lets you do something that you already could do in principle, but in a more convenient way.

So what does this mod do exactly? Because in practice, all it does is turn two different zones into one zone without really changing anything about them. I thought it'd let me combine a growing zone and a stockpile zone so I could have a better VPE bileceps farm, but it doesn't let me merge those zones. Then I thought it'd let me turn two growing zones with different plants into one where both of those plants can be sown in the same growing zone; but it doesn't do that either. the zone was made of rice and potato prior to merging, but now its just potatoes.

Everybody talks about how great this mod is as a QoL change, but its purpose is basically what you can already do in the base game by making a bigger growing zone for one plant type, or having a stockpile zone with multiple different items checked off. Am I missing something here?

Would it be possible to add an option to merge non-adjacent zones?

I tend to have a lot of small zones which all serve the same function, such as designations for decorative trees or pet-food stocks.
It'd be neat to merge these so as to not have the zone list flooded with at times well over a hundred independent zones, which makes it difficult to sift through, as well as causing some rather severe lag upon selection.

You can select which zone to keep settings, name, etc by right-clicking the button. If you left click, it will pick the first in alphabetical order, first among the ones you have named, then among the ones with default names. I may change how the left-click one is chosen in the future.
