This mod will be updated for B42 when it is stable.

I also plan to release the update with some new and highly requested features, like trait loss and age related injuries. Every new feature will have the possibility to be enabled/disabled and configured in the mod settings, just like the existing ones.

Due to all these new features, it may be a while until the mod is updated, even after the new build is released.

What kind of side effects come with age? does the character lose fitnes, strength, running etc? hetting hard hearing or short sight at some point?

If I set 3 real time hourse as 1 game day, does that mean the character will age slower.
Or will it still age like the key setting 1 real hour - 1 game day.

I would want it so that you don't just randomly die when you get old but you at least progressively get worse start getting illnesses maybe back and joint pain and then you get worse and worse until you die

Amazing idea. Hope some day anyone makes a mod that aging makes the char more inclined to get a cold and other diseases, maybe fatal diseases or desses that make chat really vulnerable. I think this mod open really amazing doors

For RP purposes!! It would be awesome to be able to select age in character creation!!!

Something that would be good is to have the ability to set your age in the character creation menu rather than setting it in sandbox settings. this would allow you to have multiple characters of different ages per save.

Seconding Dingus' comment. Did you remove the smoker's cough mod yourself, or did someone get grumpy and report it?

Hey I just noticed that a bunch of your mods are missing, and your steam profile is just showing this mod only. We were just playing a mp lobby with Smoker's Cough when suddenly a mod was deleted and needed to install " ". The only reason I know it was Smoker's Cough is because I keep the modlist saved as a picture. Was your profile hacked? Are you just deleting your mods? whats going on?

What is the mechanics of this mode? In other words, how will aging affect an 80-year-old character? What impact will it have on a 40-year-old character compared to a 20-year-old one?

Most people who have Project Zomboid haven't even made it to a year, how would they die of old age? I don't get how this mod works?

Sidenote to the instadeath on old age have a very abrupt approach, people will often not realize where it comes from, and even if they do, they would more than often think that this could have a signal that is coming. My 2 suggestions is the permanent moodlet past the dying age, and a "disease" triggered/added by the mod that will drain the character health in something like an ingame hour. The mix of the two is also an idea.

But in reality too, I have never played a game that long to actually see these things in action (and I'll probably never will) since I don't RP in singleplayer, and I don't see adding this mod on MP without having tools to change people's age individually.

Although you prefer to not change the UI, you could make your own (just like Excrementum did).

adding some age related debuff, like weak bones, if you a smoker, bad lungs, wounds need more time to heal, not as strong as in your younger years, losing Eye sight, if you are overweight than you can get an heartattack, if you panic or sprint to long and many more problems^^


and if you younger, maybe slower reading and learning by book, but better learing while doing stuff and if you are old than the other way, you learn more from books

@STKed Hmm, instakill sounds not so cool tbh. I know that main reason of this is compatibility, but anyway.
My suggestion is to make a purely informative moodle aka "You are old, dude", which would let player know what is going on.
And this mechanic may be improved even further. For example, make this moodle actually impactful, giving debuffs, which would represent slow consenescence after reaching like 40-50+ years.
Anyway, thank you for your time and work. I hope someday i manage to die of old age. Especially in zomboid xD

@STKed Asking mostly for curiosity reasons (since, as you said "we will never expirience this mod"):
How does death of old age looks like mechanically? It's just RNG instakill from nowhere, or character will slowly lose hp, so eventually there would be no choises but lay down somewhere and pray to not get horded by zombies so you could die peacfully?
Also i'm quite interested how this mod interacts with change sandbox options mod. If i start 25 y.o. char, change starting age to 35 for example and die, will the new char be 35 y.o. on spawn?

would it be possible to at a setting for how long a year is, maybe like 10 days a year or what ever, user can choose the days needed, standard is 365 days

it also can be used to know how many days must past for next birthday

Since we dont have a clear info about age without other mods, maybe.... we can have an item to check age? for example... calendar?

yeah like apollon said, a sandbox option letting you change the timescale of what is considered a year for the character would fix that, i imagine.

So aging is approximately in-game-real-time? As in, no acceleration? As in, I'd have to survive for actual-in-game-years-upon-years before dying of old age?

It would be neat to have this as a sandbox option if it's not already. Time-scaling the years so one in game year might represent be 2, 5, 10 years, etc.

... but even if it's purely 1:1, I love it. (says the one who generally gets foolish in game after about a month and who's longest character ever only lasted like 70 days- haha).

Just imagining building a multi-generational, post-apocalyptic, zombie-killin' homestead with the Library of Muldraghia and it's collection of a bunch of skill books and great-grandma's zed-stompin' journals of knowledge... fun goals.
