Its not a port of the island from arma, definatly marginly smaller. personally performance is pretty good, but not sure of your specs
Have fun!
Realistically, the one identifying feature between arma and this is the spot where the runway is and the layout being inspired. The runway isn't actually on the island in IRL.
is this one to one, No. I'm making the buildings from scratch and sketchfab objects. in combination to UE marketplace assets.
Will i end up changing the name of the project later on to Ag. Efstratios or something similar to the IRL name, Likely yes. Is there any copyright infringing. No.
Check it out !!!!
I have also created a donation page on Buy me a coffee for those who did ask about donating. Will leave that link in the description of the mods.
AI finds the path.
Have fun guys, let me know if you encounter any issues.
What might have to happen is I have to check all the flags and delete and redo the Navigation mesh volumes on the playable areas.
Some people asked about sending donations. I don't typically ask for donations, but if people would like to support my efforts. I will be making a Patreon at some point for my projects. I am not a consistent person so work is an on and off like thing with me. I'd appreciate it but will never paywall my content
Hope this answers the questions people have been asking.
Another is house and building assets. These houses were made back in maybe 2019-2020 range for Squad and I am going to do a full rework of them as they are all a singular piece. Since OHD is going to go for building destruction at some point in the future, I would like to be able to level the houses down to the base foundation. on the OHD discord, I have some images up on the mod thread about the houses. They are going to be modular to a degree so it will allow more localized destruction to a section of the building rather than a two-phase destruction model like Arma,
Next update, No idea. Working on rebalancing the flags and with the terrain material swap, it is taking more time than I admit. If I had to give a rough estimate on Update 3, maybe the end of June?
I would like to actually try and reduce the overall download size of this mod. What does this mean? A lot of the trees and placement assets do not make sense and some are just absurdly unoptimized. The trees are more of a north american region and don't make much sense in Greece. I have found much better trees that fit the setting and in my opinion, make the region look more accurate as well as better optimization in a sense. Probably would reduce the download size by a few GBs just getting rid of the Tree meshes for some of the ones not even being used. Its a personal decision and the map will look way different after it's implemented.
What some questions people asked: What to expect from me? What is the next focus? For the love of god, where is the next update?
I would start small. learn on what materials are and how to make them or use OHD's material template for your map and make your material layers. Next would be understanding terrains. Terrains don't need fancy software to make if you just want to do a simple small map. For detailed, I recommend a software terrain generator. Terra Sculpter 2 is a full free program for terrain generation and has videos on it.
I cannot say how you should do your map. Its always up to the creator for final decision. But YouTube exists for visial walkthroughs and UE4 tutorials.
