Can there be more added to this?
Similar ring but instead of merge block it only has merge at "corner" but "side" is connector (for conveyors) and have an adapter that goes onto ship and has 4 ports all facing same direction (above, below, and both sides of door) or even have a "side <-> conveyor adapter" so it has similar model but has bigger base to cover conveyor it is attached to while staying airtight. This would work closer to how nasa currently does it by using the "docking port" to run hoses through to next compartment.

Can it be also small ship variant? Like L-connectors to S3x3-connector.

Roses, I think a Magnetic Connection like Landing Gear would be a better setup over a Merge connection, also having a conveyor connection through the door along with a Vent and Floor/Ceiling Ring Pierce would make it a usable airlock.

it’s been running fine though

I had the idea it might be something to do with how the clamps hold the ship in place like a connector would so in order to make contact I have to move the ship
but that gives it a nonzero velocity which the game doesn’t like when it tries to convert to a station
