Just would like to say thank you. This is surely on the list of the most needed mods for this game. Especially for role players as it sucks having to type out everything. My bios are sometimes 5-6 paragraphs longs. Now I can import quickly or generate using AI (I have like 500 soldiers) and just plop into the box.
handsomegrape 16. sep. kl. 3:46
Huh, well that sucks then.
RustyDios  [ophavsmand] 7. sep. kl. 14:00
I'm sorry to hear that, but it makes sense as this utilises the UE Engine <> Windows Clipboard features.

I have no intention on making it work for Ubuntu/MAC/Linux/Other OS
handsomegrape 7. sep. kl. 9:39
This doesn't work on Ubuntu 25.04, I just end up with a bunch of squares, as if it can't parse the fonts or something.
RustyDios  [ophavsmand] 21. juli kl. 2:06
At the current time there is no plans to expand the mod.
Although making this work for Epitaphs does sound interesting....
MK19 20. juli kl. 15:44
Very useful mod for cool short bios of characters!
Are there any plans for a clipboard update for other text bodies like the name, nickname, epitaphs and all that? Would be useful there, too.
Spoonardo 22. maj kl. 13:04
Is there a version of this that works for base game? This version says it only works for WOTC when I try to use it, and doesn't load for base. :steamsad:
jat11241976 1. mar. kl. 15:22
Man I love this mod! It adds so much more depth to my characters. And like most (if not all) of your mods, the instructions on how to use couldn't be easier. :steamthumbsup:10/10

Thank you very much for this mod!!! I have very developed biographies for my XCOM personnel and now I don't have to keep re-entering them at the start of a new campaign!!!! Again, thank you very very much for this!!!!

Tou sir, are a hero.
Thank you very much
Thorke 22. aug. 2024 kl. 0:16
aaaa i had a file with more than 20 bios :D and i didn't have a copy. i have to look for it again and create it again.
but it doesn't matter, it's always better to have a mod on watch and update than to be obsolete.
in a great mod
Thorke 9. aug. 2024 kl. 0:02
No necesitas empezar campaña nueva.

Finally! someone made a mod that allows us to copy and paste. I've been hoping for a mod like this for a long time but too bad we can't copy and paste from windows into the in-game biography. Thanks for making the mod by the way
Supergirly 25. juli 2024 kl. 12:47
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

FAIR WARNING
this mod will recieve an update at some point later today. This update will reset the config. Please ensure you backup and compare changes you have made!
life4trinity 16. maj 2024 kl. 6:10
Why Firaxis thought not having copy paste for bios is a good idea will always blow my mind...
RoxeusRose 21. maj 2023 kl. 10:54
Alguien puede poner un video como funciona yo no entiendo notepad :steamsad: lastima no funciona con word
zin 22. mar. 2023 kl. 14:55
I just tested it, and for some reason I thought it’d work whilst editing the config with the game open. I misunderstood the ‘It also works from in the armoury OR in the character pool’ part.

It would be sweet if it somehow could refresh in-game, but still, this is a great mod.
zin 22. mar. 2023 kl. 14:22
I wish you could just copy and paste in-game with CTRL + V and CTRL + C. It’s mind-boggling that this isn’t an option. It’d also be nice to be able to increase the character limit.

Still, this is a wonderful mod that finally makes me actually want to write biographies in the game! :)
SMmania123 1. juni 2022 kl. 12:04
@RustyDios The jokes are way to funny bro, lol
We have fun in the XCOM community!

I think I covered all your stuff that you asked me to adjust, but please guys refer all actual questions to the mod author.
RustyDios  [ophavsmand] 1. juni 2022 kl. 11:55
Thankyou, I fixed the errors in my mod description for you.
SMmania123 1. juni 2022 kl. 11:33
There it's adjusted now, that wasn't a "subtle-passive-aggressive-insult" it was me trying to adjust it while being in a hurry for work. So sorry you took it out of context.
SMmania123 1. juni 2022 kl. 11:29
VERY IMPORTANT CLIFF-NOTES: The XComAutoBiography.ini is where you put this in +ConfigBios = (FirstName=" ", LastName=" ", Bio=" ") The Bio has 3000 character max limit btw.
Just delete the example ones.

Put \n\n for formatting like an enter key on your keyboard. Here's and example ~ ", Bio="Country of Origin:Canada\n\nDate of Birth:2/28/98\n\nJoe Smuck was a...") ~

And copy paste the first command I showed above below the first one you put down. Then just fill out the information. Or you could just edit that one after you use it...

BUT THERE ARE SOME CAVEATS!!! (IMPORTANT STUFF NOW!)

You must relaunch *THE ENTIRE GAME* for the Bios to show up! They will NOT SHOW UP if your typing them while the game is loaded and then saving the file, Once you relaunch the game the Load Bio button will have color and then it will work. Keep this in mind if your typing out a lot of info!

Also make sure to back up your config file if you need to, just copy paste it somewhere else!
SMmania123 1. juni 2022 kl. 11:29
"Also if you really want to use the doublequote symbol you can do that too, put a \ before it and it'll work fine. You can also use any other html codes & escape characters you want, and even use <font> tags." - RustyDios

My *suggestion* is if you are in a hurry to just do this. (if your not follow steps above)
ALSO DO NOT USE the - > ( " ) *Quote Symbol* in your bios IT MAKES IT STOP the rest of the bio EVEN IF YOUR UNDER 3000 SO DON'T USE IT
As for ( ' ) symbol try not to use it in the first couple of words as it may cause issues.
RustyDios  [ophavsmand] 1. juni 2022 kl. 11:19
So let me just get this right here? You've removed your original comments, edited them (with incorrect [] still in your example, and false info about the use of single quotes ).. and rehashed the SAME INFO that is still clearly in the mod description above? .. to what purpose dude ????

This has me so ... confused, lol

Also if you really want to use the doublequote symbol you can do that too, put a \ before it and it'll work fine. You can also use any other html codes & escape characters you want, and even use <font> tags.

If you have an issue with the mod description above, please just state that instead of this subtle-passive-aggressive-insult. Thankyou :) :)
RustyDios  [ophavsmand] 29. maj 2022 kl. 4:08
also you don't want [ \n\n ] <the square brackets> just the \n\n will do
RustyDios  [ophavsmand] 29. maj 2022 kl. 4:06
oh well.. in that case you might want to add "SAVE/COPY YOUR CONFIG TO A BACKUP LOCATION" .. to the list too :) - because I'm sure that will be easily missed too and when/if I ever need to update this mod it will erase -everything-
SMmania123 29. maj 2022 kl. 3:03
@RustyDios, not side by side like this though. Now the super important stuff is *screaming* out at you now. So you can't possible miss it with your eyes.
RustyDios  [ophavsmand] 29. maj 2022 kl. 1:36
Thanks!.. um.. isn't all that info covered upthere in the mod description ?
Zaku II (Alias WatcherZigzagoon) 7. apr. 2022 kl. 14:56
I lied; I haven't read the description for this thing properly, so I MAY have misjudged a thing or two... :steamdeadpan:
Zaku II (Alias WatcherZigzagoon) 7. apr. 2022 kl. 13:30
this makes things a LOT easier for me! Thank you!
RustyDios  [ophavsmand] 6. jan. 2022 kl. 16:01
But honestly if you are looking for inspiration then More Backstories has loads...

Battle Bear 6. jan. 2022 kl. 14:37
Do you know where i can go to view the normal backstories in the game? i cant find a list anywhere online
RustyDios  [ophavsmand] 20. okt. 2021 kl. 8:40
You can do multiples at once, providing each new line is for a new character name
Enad 20. okt. 2021 kl. 7:18
Can you add multiple biographies to this config and load them in or would you need to do it one at a time?
tilarium 12. aug. 2021 kl. 10:55
Thank you! So annoying that we couldn't cut & paste from our text editor of choice.
Damien Bishop 10. aug. 2021 kl. 9:42
this is awesome, thank you so much
Solitude 9. aug. 2021 kl. 23:03
I been wishing for something like this for quite some time now. Thank you!
Cato 9. aug. 2021 kl. 20:08
Huh, the random bio button already exists. Thanks!
RustyDios  [ophavsmand] 9. aug. 2021 kl. 18:36
@Cato
Unfortunately getting an Export button was past my knowledge right now and it was severely delaying the release of the mod, so I put this out there with that as the first update I want to do. Please see the first line of the "Known Issues" section.

There is already a mod that lets you pull a -random- bio, including from mods like Even More Backstories see this mod here and the last button in its panel :)
Cato 9. aug. 2021 kl. 8:13
If feasible, I would also recommend an 'export' button, where the current soldier bio is written to an output file.

This would add utility for mods which add backstories and character pools, where the user can extract a bio they really like without laborious copying (as Dragon32 described).
Cato 9. aug. 2021 kl. 8:03
It is nice to see innovation in this small part of the UI. :winter2019happybulb: Does it have to match the soldier name? Is there any way we could make this a wildcard expression?

My dream would be to see a 'randomize' button which, ignoring/keeping the current soldier name, randomly pulls a story from a WOTC Even More Backstories config variant.
Alecthelm 9. aug. 2021 kl. 7:59
did start a new run back on 7. with these 4 new mods, which come along LW2 style, ♥♥♥♥- im old so dont remember the names right now...covered mission?- whatever. and every searge did get an handwritten 2,5k Bio, because it simply makes FUN now, and youll think twice if you let him move yellow.

i am not kind- never were, ask my daughters, if they wanna set me up, they call me kind, and then the ♥♥♥♥ goes around:) honour to whom honour goes, and so to you for this addition;)
Dragon32 8. aug. 2021 kl. 10:03
Great stuff, RustyDios. Wish I'd had this when I was adding Peter Osei, Ana Ramirez and Jane Kelly into my character pool. I took their backgrounds from the TLP voiceovers. That was a lot of typing.
Enemy Infant Tree 7. aug. 2021 kl. 21:33
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FINALLY
Savar Belmont 7. aug. 2021 kl. 15:20
@RustyDios there is no perfect. Only perfecting, whilst we cannot claim all that glimmers we can appreciate the toils that brought them about. Thank you again.
RustyDios  [ophavsmand] 7. aug. 2021 kl. 14:15
Thanks for the kind words everyone. I know its not quite full cut/copy/paste like I would have liked... but it is a great intermediary solution.

@Supergirly .. Thankyou, for helping me in testing that it works :)
Supergirly 7. aug. 2021 kl. 13:02
I can tell you that this is a great mod. I am so happy you made this and let me try it out early. :)
