No idea why I never commented here. I love to see mods like this.
If you ever consider revisiting it, the P-51 B was re-added a while ago. While I am not happy with how the canopy turned out (still way too low poly for my taste) it is likely to stay this time and more importantly the broken and overlapping uv map layout is fixed.
Updated texture template should be in the dropbox linked on bohemia forums.
