".....not required but the map is INTENDED TO BE USED WITH THEM." Meaning you only get half of what it was meant to be WITHOUT using the theme and LUT.
Vanilla definition: ....it's called Vanilla when not customized from its original form, meaning that it is used without any customization or updates applied to it.

Also being vanilla refers to having no mods or custom assets. Themes and Luts are always optional and never actually needed to play a map.
