-republican gladii are usually slightly longer than imperial ones and their blade has more of a "leaf" shape.
@xardoway: those seem more like mainz type gladii, which are early imperial models.
Ignore the empty faces :p, I assume it's the gladii you had seen before though.
Got some images for those gladii from DeI to show the ones you mean? If you mean the ones I think you mean, then I might have seen them already and decided not to use them because they wouldn't aesthetically fit a noble (more so for common infantry) and I don't think they have scabbards to go with them.
About the shield: i thought that since you said that you wanted to give generals a spear when they are in a spear unit, it would be possible to give them cavarly/infantry shield depending on they bodyguard.
Hey there:
Suggestion #1: No, sorry - if I did that, the shield for the infantry version (e.g. Triarii) would look weird as well using a cavalry shield. Unfortunately, I'll be keeping the scutum as it's more recognisable at a glance on the campaign + in battle more so than the smaller cavalry shield and it currently fits the infantry versions. If I had the choice, I would make him use the cavalry shield while part of a cavalry unit (e.g. equites), but I can't do that unfortunately.
Suggestion #2: Yes, I think I can do that - I also think that the generic gladius is too Imperial for them. Can you send me some images of the kind of gladius you'd want to see instead? Exact replicas, brand new, would be best - I can't do much with old ruins or stone reliefs.
Some small suggestions for polybian submod:
-can you replace the rectangular scutum with a round clipeus/parma? It seems odd to have generals on horseback with the scutum, as it was an infantry shield.
-can you replace the imperial style galdius with a republican era model?
