These guys are awesome, and I love the skeletal effect you used for them. All of the elemental unicorns are neat. Any chance we might see a zombie or skeleton unicorn some day?

They spawn randomly. I marked them to spawn the same locations you find normal horses. you can use a spawn map and look for the equus areas.

Spawn they random or only by command?

i didnt put any thought into the paintable options, so i'm gonna say your mileage may vary.

is there a way to paint it? I have this idea to make a horse from my favorite video game, but I need to paint the unicorn lavender. I tried to paint it and it just gave a blank window.

I would if i could control the spawns with that kind of precision. I can only pick biome areas to spawn in and the server picks the specific spots. I did try to do the volcano area on rag, but it's not seperated out that way.

hey just an idea can the fire unicorns spawn by the wyvern trenches but not in them so that the wyverns dont kill them? i think that would be cool. just like how the ice unicorns spawn in the merder snow

Painted: I don't know why it would do this. I haven't updated or even touched those files for a while. Sounds awful tho, my condolenses. You, however, are the only one to have reported this problem, so I don't have much in the way of a fix for you. I have a bug discussion set up just for this sort of thing. If you'd like give me a more detailed information as to what you had installed and when, I'll be happy to take a look and maybe figure out what had gone wrong for you.

Loved it until just noticed all four of my unicorns are gone in the last few days?? All equipment and supplies on them are gone as well. What caused this??? I loved using my horses, but if they are going to go missing after I craft saddles and put supplies on them I will not endorse this mod. I had signed up for the lightining unicorns as well but worried something will happen there too.

the fire unicorns are less rare than seeing a regular equus on my server lol like legit i've only seen one regular but like 2-3 fire unicorns already.

The saddle emporium saddles clip into the unicorns a little, mostly towards the head and belly

Fire Unicorn Beta 3 is published.

The triangle count on the unicorn has been cut by a third.

The shaders have been optimized and set up for instancing for the female colors; some textures removed and the material count lowered

The female unicorns now have a golden fire appreance.

that's some pretty detailed work, like to see what else you'll come out with if you do.

Starbuck: Maybe. I already have a list of things I need to do. Untill I get through them, I'm not going to make any promisies one way or another. This is my first Ark mod and I'm trying to make sure I get it done properly before doing anything else.

You think it's possible one day you work on a nightmare version of this, like the modded uquus instead of unicorn?

I noticed that my framerate would drop if I had more than 2 Fire Unicorns huddled together in one area. The framerate would be somewhat restored if I separated them by a good 200 feet.

Also in the update is the fire damage from the melee attacks as was requested. The frontal attack does a short burst of fire damage. The kick does a much longer damage over time.

No need to say sorry. It happens. It's not like the Admin/owner can't just summon replacements NPC mounts to fix what was lost. People that feel you need to say sorry have to much entitlement in there thinking. You'r mod works well on my server. Im happy with it. Thank you. If people are intrested in my server. I realized that would happen only after the fact. I can only apologize at this point and promise I won't do it again. I hadn't expected that I had that much power to actually shut it off for everyone. My previous experiences with the Workshop for other games outside of Ark has a very different set of rules apprently. What I did expect that everyone's current servers and unicorns would keep marching along happily regardless of what I did. They would all get updated when I pushed it back out. Obviously not. Again, I do apologize. I didn't intend to screw it up for everyone. Sorry.

Never seen anyone remove the whole workshop page for an update, very sad right now. The mod was gone in the workshop, my server wouldn't run and people couldn't get on because the page was gone and the server stated mod no longer existed, when i went to the workshop it stated MOD was removed from steam. After searching the discussion area and internet trying to figure out what happen to the mod and seeing it no longer existing in the workshop I had to remove it. Lost all my mounts i tamed and babies i breed, shaking my head right now :(

The Beta 2 of the Fire Unicorn has been published.

Fixes:

Fire effects optimized
- reduced spawn rates across the board

Spawn rates on wild Fire Unicorn are now ~1/2 of a normal Equus
- Equus have a 2.5% chance and the Fire Unicorn has 1.25% chance generally


Adds:

It will now spawn properly in the wild on Scorched Earth and Aberration maps
- On AB; look for it in the fertile areas
- On SE; look for it in the green desert and oasis areas
- On Rag: it will usually be found in the Scottish Highlands and the grasslands
- On Island: The grasslands and on Monster Island now with a 5% chance to spawn there

Added features to the poop for the Fire Unicorn
- It will give you 350 insulation, if you own it
- It will give you a buff similar to the Calien Soup Buff, if you eat it

I'm currently testing it on SE right now. I ended up going down to PAX today, so I'm a little behind schedule. I'm working on it :)

Just "K", yup I had a hundred in the last slot. I am pretty dutiful about making sure how to do these tames. Phlinger Phoo is my hero ;) Thanks for the help. I tamed several others and tranqing them does work to take off the aggro. It also works if you wait right behind them as thehy wake up and hit the e button. I have done this with two others at my base.(twelve frickin times!! Ugh) Maybe a resource if you may need it. This tame was alot of work, thanks for all the help :)

Update. Just because I don't give up easily I did try to fly away on my Argent, twice. As as I approached I was surprised to see the bright flame colored unicorn running outside the catch pen I had built. It pullled a Hoodini twice on me. So I am thinking the first animal more than likely escaped too. Anyway I took the little booger and dropped it in the middle of a bunch of rocks. I figured what the heck and gave approaching it another try. It de-aggro'd and I was able to catch it while pinned under the ledge of a rock. What a tame....whewww!

@painteddragon If the Equu is spooked at all (sees you and tries to run/flee or fight) then the "ride" icon will show, but be unattainable. You cannot tame it by tranqing it down. It only eats Rockcarrots and they have to be in your "0" slot on your hot bar to work. Make sure you have plenty of them cause the higher the level the more rockcarrots you'll need.
It'll also show up as you described it if you do not have any rockcarrots equipped to the "0" slot on your hot bar. :3

Maybe I am new to this game played a littel over 500 hrs. I found one of these aewsome guys and tried taming it. It aggro'd on me in the taming pen. I had found the unicorn just down from my base so it should not have an issue with despawning. About the fifth time trying to clear agro it disappeared on me. The second unicorn i found is right now in my taming pen. Having put it down twice with darts it is giving me a "ride" note in all grey, not blue. I am in ghillie and no matter how close, or far, or holding down "E," it doesn't allow riding or feeding or anything. Not sure this is a bug, but it is dang frustrating. I have again put it down with tranq. to see if the animal will reset...... and it did not. I have left the area and ........ it didn't. So putting it back where I found it because it is untamamble.

@squirlly, same here, there is no shortage of them.I have my base near Pirates Cove in the old abandon Castle and they are everywhere. I will say seeing they are so cool they should be more rare like the Unicorn. I think there ar to many spawning and the spawn rate should be adjusted so they are more of a rare find like the regular Unicorn. The regular Unicorn I only see one spwned in on the map at one time. I had like 6 alone near my base,

Just tried mating a female Firee Unicorn with a Regular male Unicorn and sad to say it doesn't work. I thought maybe just maybe seeing they are from the same type of animal it would work. To bad that would be really cool. Maybe in the future it could work?
