Alternatively, you can change the load order by editing the "addonlist.txt" file located at: "Steam\SteamApps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addonlist.txt"

If it still doesn't work or causes issues with any HUD addons, then the only fix would be to request that whoever made the HUD addon/s you're using add my changes directly to their HUD.

Addons work/are applied in the order in which you subscribe to them. It's likely that most HUD addons edit the same file I edited in order to change the chat box which is causing conflicts. If you were already subscribed to a particular HUD before subscribing to this chat box, HUD addons will have priority and this chat box will not activate.

Try unsubscribing from both this and any HUD addons you're subscribed to, then resubscribing to this chat box before resubscribing to any HUD addons. This should force the chat box to have priority over any HUD addons.

If you mean the font for the chat box:

Go to: Steam > steamapps > common > left 4 dead 2 > left4dead2 > resource

Delete or rename 'stubble-bold.vfont'
