@meic it's a matter of where do you use this. for example, i play pretty much only single player or coop, so i don't really have to care about footstep sounds being too quiet (plus there are mods specifically for footstep audio, that are louder than vanilla ones, some of them are perfectly audible in a gunfight with a even noisier mod i use). this simply won't work in a competitive multiplayer match just because the main sound mix was designed for vanilla sounds. i'm actually currently working on my own game, and i swear that this gunshot audio design will work perfectly just because of the mixing being centered around those loud gunshots, not only that, there's also going to be actual ear pro as a piece of equipment that you can use.
P.S. if you don't like it, don't use it. what is the obsession of mod users to be completely silent about anything they find good, but cry like a baby in the comments about the slightest thing they don't like? it's super dumb.

man, this was and still is my favorite mod of all time.

This made me feel like i was playing the canceled six days in fallujah, now that that game is back on development i feel like giving this game and this mod another go before playing that one

It's a visceral thing, chasing that sort of realism! Almost as a counterargument to the often cartoony and romanticized way guns sound in video games and movies, most people have a very inaccurate view of them and don't realize just how incredibly harsh and loud they sound. I strongly recommend everyone being careful with this audio mod and only using it sparingly! It is definitely not meant for excessive use! There are plenty of great (and not insanely loud) sound mods out there in the insurgency workshop!
This mod specifically sacrifices a lot of playability and comfort, and in return tries to gives you a small taste of what it may actually feel like to fire a gun or be in a firefight.

I have zero professional experience in audio creation and this was just a curiosity project for me, but thank you for the feedback! Perhaps I will look into those audio techniques that you mention on a future project!

I am not sure why anyone would want to make gun sounds realistic in the sense that they will literally deafen you. There's a reason why we wear ear protection when shooting for prolonged periods of time. Obviously, if you use this mod at normal volume so you can hear footsteps or other audio clues, you will expose yourself to unsafe amounts noise that gets annoying very quickly. Eventually, people turn down the volume to make the gun sounds bearable, while making everything else impossible to hear, turning this mod into a hindering shjt.
If you really want to damage your hearing like a moron using a video game, why not just turn up the game volume to 100?

By the way, there are audio techniques to increase the perceived volume of a sound other than just cranking up the gain by 1000, which can damage your hearing and make the sounds just a pain to listen to. In the end, it's just a missed opportunity for a sound mod by making ever gun sound painfully loud. If anyone actually values their hearing and doesn't want to get tinnitus by the time they hit 30, I recommend skipping this one.

The last paragraph in the description explains why the guns are very loud, I was mostly trying to go for 'realism' and immersion (hence the name of the mod)~ and thank you! Unfortunately insurgency does not support separate gun sounds for indoors/outdoors so I tried to make it as in between as possible, though I tend to play more indoor close quarters maps.

Sounds are pretty good. I don't like how all grenade bouncing sounds are the same - that removes the gameplay mechanic where you can instantly tell what grenade was thrown. Apart from that, liked it a lot.

I noticed that in MK18 and M40A1 after a shot after 2 seconds or 3 there is an incomprehensible sound, but I really like the mod and would like to fix this nasty sound. this mistake player inventory: Tried giving "Username" weapon "weapon m18" from template "template sniper_security", failed with error "Not enough supply" (5)

it was good. just has some little minor/cons at first attempt test when after joining the match, the game goes crash. then second attempt, it works well. (note for suggestion) : for author, it needs update mod, I've seen a shotgun sounds (the M590) it still use a vanilla sounds.

Loud is great ! Tired of those shy and puffy sound mods.
I still wish for a handguns only version. Some of the rifles sounds are fucked up (well, at least on my end) such as the SKS one. I could live without rifle sounds, but those pistol sounds really sound awesome. The best out there imo.
