Kite Sergal (Ammonite616) 28. nov. 2024 kl. 4:26
I have made animated versions of most of these portraits. Even made it so one of the races has clothing options (3rd one on the preview) just waiting on permission to post. If S.C. Watson is reading this; please contact me about this! have a nice day
aanikron 7. dec. 2022 kl. 10:12
I too would so love for these awesomely imaginative aliens to get the same animation treatment as the main mod. I love them, it's just that animation does so much more to bring them alive.
Grendain 30. sep. 2022 kl. 9:45
I hope for Update like Other Animated Alien Sun Mod
Mestre d'Avis 28. sep. 2022 kl. 18:59
Is this getting updated?
SEVEN GOON SESH 17. apr. 2021 kl. 14:39
:(
MrFunEGUY 5. aug. 2020 kl. 12:50
So first, I want to say that this version does still work fine for the most part, for people who want to use it. That said, I have updated this. I fixed some formatting issues that I'm fairly certain were limiting the amount of species names generated in game, and got rid of the "Flaming Bone Poeplan" species.

No pressure. At all. Just wondered if you had any news?
Kheeran 17. juni 2019 kl. 21:03
Please update these, would love to have them in my game again, thanks!
Crony 12. maj 2019 kl. 21:37
Any chance for an animated update for this? The races really look nice.
Selcouth 10. dec. 2018 kl. 17:13
Cool, looking forward to it!
paulo 10. dec. 2018 kl. 9:05
Wonderful! and thanks for the good news.
Parusenk0 10. dec. 2018 kl. 8:21
Awesome, thank you!
S.C.Watson  [ophavsmand] 10. dec. 2018 kl. 8:03
Animation is in the works. And, an update is pending.
paulo 3. nov. 2018 kl. 16:35
Indeed, it's a shame this portrait pack was not animated (yet).
Selcouth 3. nov. 2018 kl. 16:10
Any progress getting this one animated?
paulo 28. sep. 2018 kl. 9:46
Yeah, but I really, really HATE that damn warning! So I will still wait for the update.
Etherbird 28. sep. 2018 kl. 9:33
@paulo
you can easily use this on 2.1.3, the warning in the launcher just refers to the version number in a doc file. As the past few updates changed nothing about the portrait system, you can just ignore it, or "update" it yourself by simply changing the version number in said doc.
paulo 8. sep. 2018 kl. 18:44
Hello? please, update this mod (and Alien Suns) to the update 2.1.3 and beyond.

P.S: I am really boring, no?

paulo 24. juni 2018 kl. 19:33
Please, update this mod for the 2.1.1.
𐩸 23. maj 2018 kl. 6:37
I'm getting a lot of 'ship name is too long' from all of your alien suns mods that add namelists. These error messages end up taking up most of my error log now. Would it be possible to fix this? I am not sure if this bug has always been here or if it's because of the recent 2.1 update.
Parusenk0 28. apr. 2018 kl. 6:43
Awesome, thank you for the info!

Not yet, but it is happening.
Parusenk0 25. apr. 2018 kl. 7:17
Are these portraits animated like the main set?
Invicta 26. feb. 2018 kl. 21:41
can you please leave up a depreciated 1.9 ver for those of us not updating to 2.0, if its not to much of a bother.
UntrustedLife 26. feb. 2018 kl. 19:26
Do the namelists have support for colossus and such or did you just change version numbers not getting rid of unused sections/not adding the new ones slows down load times for namelists significantly in 2.0 from my experience with my own mods.
paulo 22. feb. 2018 kl. 16:24
Please, update your mods for 2.0.

paulo 10. dec. 2017 kl. 12:07
Eeeerrrr... your mods are not compatible with the update 1.9. 0 (Boulle).
Skullblossom 6. nov. 2017 kl. 15:14
These are all seriously cool.
S.C.Watson  [ophavsmand] 2. nov. 2017 kl. 17:48
Roll back from the beta.

Nothing is wrong under the hood here (again, you're the only experiencing this), and the mod is up to date for cepek, so.
♥ Rommel ♥ 2. nov. 2017 kl. 1:16
it is literally telling me this when I select one of your portraits "Traits have to be connected to Humanoids, Plantoids, etc its lists the other vanilla species portrait groups." It sounds like something is wrong under the hood; Its mostly due to the recent beta patch screwing up stuff. Because this happens everytime I try to use your mod.
S.C.Watson  [ophavsmand] 31. okt. 2017 kl. 22:11
There's got to be something else in play, since you are the only one that is experiencing this.

Run the game with only one of the mods active at a time - and make sure you don't have any other mods. None of my mods conflict with each other, so I can not fathom why you would be getting a conflict like that from just my mods.
♥ Rommel ♥ 31. okt. 2017 kl. 19:03
the only mods I am using is the Outer Rim and your Atmosphere mods that is it. :/
S.C.Watson  [ophavsmand] 31. okt. 2017 kl. 18:34
@ ♥ Rommel ♥ - Alien Suns & Alien Suns: Outer Rim do not modify, add, or change any traits whatsoever. I'm not sure what exactly would be causing your issue but my best guess is that you've got some sort of whackadoodle mod conflict going on somehow. D:
♥ Rommel ♥ 31. okt. 2017 kl. 18:08
Is there a reason why when I select one of the portraits in your mod, that I cannot select any traits? Its really odd, because with any of your portraits I try to use the trait menu is blank. But when I choose any other vanilla portrait I have traits appear.
S.C.Watson  [ophavsmand] 30. okt. 2017 kl. 10:45
At best, you'd end up with a biped of some sort, with a head and limbs in the same general locations, but at that point, I think the similarities would end.

Convergent evolution is interesting. It's best seen in the evolution of the eye, with multitudes of species evolving it independently, and in different ways.

Environment plays a huge role on driving evolution - for example; aquatic (swimming) species, like fish and mammals. You have a specific set of forms that work best in an aquatic environment with some variation. But it doesn't end there - diet, climate, and mate selection play huge, though not as obvious roles in evolution.

Check my original Alien Suns - you'll find the Kukeri, Nloam and Nomouku all follow bipedal body plans. :)

The Outer Rim is intentionally a bit wilder.
Lucidnonsense 30. okt. 2017 kl. 10:14
It would be interesting to see a species who "do to convergent evolution, ended up looking alot like humans"

In the same way that bats look like birds...most sci-fi that use that excuse fail to explore just how different something that developed very similar adaptations may look.
S.C.Watson  [ophavsmand] 29. okt. 2017 kl. 12:14
@ Scarecrow - Glad you like them! And thanks for the ideas :)

@ Pureon - Thanks! interesting that the Mekelanaek are seemingly as popular as they are :)
Scarecrow 28. okt. 2017 kl. 18:51
These mods are so awesome! I'm just going to throw some inspiration your way just in case you want some :) Tardigrades, coral, undead, spiders, sharks, canines, goblins, rock creatures.
Pureon 28. okt. 2017 kl. 2:55
Once again, fantastic aliens from S.C.Watson! Love the Mekelanek and all the others. Thanks :)
S.C.Watson  [ophavsmand] 26. okt. 2017 kl. 19:38
@Time Turner - no, I got that. I meant, what were you curious about regarding them? Their mask design was inspired by the Salish people up where I live (Pacific NW) - I thought it would be cool to take their basic aesthetic and "modernize" it some, hence the more techish feel to, but I also wanted to make it feel alien as well.
Lucidnonsense 26. okt. 2017 kl. 14:34
@S.C Watson The fourth race, the one with the red lights.
S.C.Watson  [ophavsmand] 26. okt. 2017 kl. 10:11
@jounk33 I'm noting if not overdoing it! :D

@Time Turner (igotthatreference.gif) - Glad you like it!
Re: Mekelanek ... how do you mean? >__>
Re: Macine Races - Yes! Fully intend on it - though I have to say PDX did do a good job with theirs recently. I was impressed.
Lucidnonsense 26. okt. 2017 kl. 9:29
Some very good stuff, a worthy addition to alien suns, 2 questions
1: what the heck is going on with the Mekelanek
2: any chance of seeing some machine races in the future?
jounk33 26. okt. 2017 kl. 8:31
Once more, a very ambitious work from S.C.Watson.
