Hey REVO, could I ask you to send me the OBJ or whatever format files for these monorail cars? I'm planning on 3d printing them

Looks excellent shuttling back and forth, cheers.

You need:

1. Improved Public Transport 2 to assign workshop assets to transport lines
2. Advanced Vehicle Options to disable default vehicles.

I would like to know... why after i subscribed to this asset the monorail is still the default asset? It does not generate the modded asset of this monorail?

yep, all clear. Thx! :medkit:

Correct. Your ferry will have line coloring on anything thas was marked in _c map. It will not have random hull coloring because game doesn't spawn it randomly, it is a part of a line. Let's put it that way:

Game randomly assigns one of the 4 color slots to a vehicle, on regions marked on _c map IF:

1. Game assigns such vehicle as an outside connection (passenger/cargo trains, boats)
2. Game spawns them as a vehicle that peds are owning (car, minivan, truck etc.)

Same mapped regions are used when:

3. Vehicle belongs to a city-wide line that is being managed by the player. In that case, color depends on line color, not variation.

Hope it helps

from that answer it sounds like a vehicle can have either/or, but not both. So for example, what if I wanted to make a ferry that has four hull color variations, but also has a stripe on the deck to represent the line color. Would that be possible?

if the train is assigned to a certain line it will be colored with line's color, if not, it will have 1 of the predefined colors in asset editor EACH time it spawns. Game assigns colors procedural so each time an asset is spawned or generated (props), they will have one of the 4 predefined colors.

yes you can, color map serves both
AmiPolizeiFunk 12. okt. 2017 kl. 10:12
i mean you can't do >line color< + >color variations< on the same asset?
AmiPolizeiFunk 12. okt. 2017 kl. 10:11
so you can't do both... it's one or the other?
REV0  [ophavsmand] 12. okt. 2017 kl. 2:19
color variation and line color area is the same. When making trains or any other color varied assets, you can define 4 different preset colors as variation. They appear on areas defined on _c map, when they spawn.

if the line color is in the _c map, then how do you do color variations? that's the part that's confusing me. can you do both a line color area and a separate color variation area on the same model?
REV0  [ophavsmand] 11. okt. 2017 kl. 15:07
line coloring is easy, you need a color map black white, black is parts that are NOT colored, and white changes color accordingly. The important point is to keep color changing part in diffuse map completely white (i mean it, no dirt or whatsoever or other colors). Otherwise it becomes color mixer and the final result doesn't give the actual line color.

Aside that, I'm using the same old asset texturing tutorial made eons ago

i love your assets, always top quality. i'm wondering, is there a tutorial somewhere about doing line-coloring for vehicles? i'm thinking of doing some ferries
