How this guide will work.
We will talk about Good sides and Bad sides of different kind of activity, and Does & Don't about more specific ways.

3 Dollars = Alot of money
2 Dollars = Mid amount of money
1 Dollar = Not alot of money

We will also talk about the difficulty :
3 = Hard
2 = Normal
1 = Easy

And we will talk about if the way of making money worth it or not, we will judge with the words :
-Worth it
-Meh
-Not worth it
1 / Create
-----A) Design
Designing things such as Profile Pictures, Artworks or more generally common steam editable things, is one of the best way to make money on steam.
But you have to pick the right type of Design skills, because there is alot of different designer, we are not gonna list them all here, but here is a quick list :
  • Graphic Designer,
    Motion Designer,
    Infographist,
    Interior Designer,
    Architectural Designer,
    Digital Painter
etc...
Here, 2 are better than others : Graphic and Motion Designer.

Why ? Because we are on steam, people want design, they want cool logos, for their profiles, their teams, they want artwork, etc.. you won't get many customers if you are a Digital Painter for example. And you won't get any if you are an Architectural Designer.

What is good with Design, is that you can do it infinitly, there is customers, there is places to make your advertisement and there is reward.
As a little example, Graphic Designer myself, here are my TOTAL earning since I started, the 29th December of 2016 :

Requirements :
  • -Photoshop, or Affinity if you can't afford it.
  • -Illustrator

A website about Design, to hire or become (other than Steam) ?
  • -Behance
  • -Dribbble
  • -99Design

Let's see what is good and what is bad !

Tips :
  • -Be good and THEN start selling, don't sell too fast.
  • -Be objective on your work, or you won't progress.
  • -Look at tutorials, but create by yourself, or you will only be able to create what already exists.
  • -Sharpen your inspiration, the more you search for ideas, the easier it will become.
  • -Be paid BEFORE the Design Creation is Started.

So, at the end ? Worth it !
-----B) CODE
Well, Coding might be less popular, because we are on Steam, and not everyone needs a coder, but on Steam, you can find alot of Gamers that would need you to code things for them, here, I think about all the Minecraft players, if you code, you will encounter some ;) One of the best way to make money, when you are a Coder, is the Level Up Bot, but we will talk about it later.

But what to do as a coder ?

Requirements :
-None is particular !

A website about Coding (other than Steam) ?
  • -Code Academy

Now, let's see what is good and what is bad with coding on steam !

As you can see, Coding has more bad things than good.

A few tips :
  • -Start on simple language
  • -Start on game engine if you want to create games (UE, Unity etc..)
  • -Use Visual Scripting !

So at the end ? Meh
2 / Offer your services
-----A) Boost
Boost is very common nowedays, not really well seen by players, it's still legal, at least, it's not specified x)
Go for CS GO Boosting, if you want to make money. It is popular, and there is Demand.

What is good and bad about CS GO Boosting ?

Requirements for boosting :
  • -Be good (Supreme Minimum)
  • -Decent English
  • -Decent Connection

A website about boosting, to hire or become (other than Steam) ?
  • -CS GO Academy

And now, few tips :
  • -Be nice
  • -Be really good
  • -Be registered on websites, or you won't get many customers !

So at the end ? Worth it !
-----B) Teaching
Teaching may be less popular, there is still a few person (and proportionally to steam there is a lot) that will contact you.
You should go for a CS GO (as always, most popular) or Design Teaching.

CS GO/Design requirements :
  • -Be patient
  • -Be good
  • -Know more things than tutorials on Youtube

A website about teaching, to hire or become (other than Steam)?
For CS GO:
  • -CS GO Academy

For Design :

  • -Behance
  • -Dribble
  • -99Design

And now, a few tips :
  • -Teach basic things
  • -Try to teach multiple people at the same time

So at the end ? Worth it !
3 / Trade
-----A) Steam Items
Trading Steam Items isn't very popular, good or bad things, there's alot of items you can deal with :
  • -Backgrounds
  • -Card
  • -Emoticons and Gems.

Steam Items Trading Requirements :

  • -Get a Budget
  • -Get a way to find people
  • -Control the market
  • -Be the cheapest

And now a few tips :
-Advertise on appropriate forums !
-Go into groups dedicated to Trading

So at the end ? Not worth it..
-----B) CS GO Skins / TF2 Items
Just the most popular way, without any doubt. You'll always find someone to trade with, then it's infinite.

Requirements ?
  • -Few skins to start with
  • -Be active
  • -Get a nice profile, +rep etc.. so people trust you !

It might be hard to be sucessful, and by that I talk about 1000$+ / year. This is why I put a 3 of Difficulty.

Tips :
  • -Use key as currency
  • -Buy at 85% value
  • -Sell for 90%
  • -Be careful with pattern and float
  • -Overpay if you downgrade your skin

A website about trade, to buy or become (other than Steam) ?
  • -Reddit
  • -CS.Money

So, at the end ? Worth it !
4 / Passive Incomes
-----A) Level Up Bot
This part have been edited, due to Kryb getting thousands of adds about how to create a bot.
I think get a Level Up Bot is the best way to make money : It's super easy to manage.
Be careful, by manage I mean : Checking it & Refunding it.

A bot is EXTREMLY Hard to create and needs a High knowledge of coding, it cannot be teached or explained on Steam, please don't spam Kryb to know how to make one :)

Here is a list of Easy & Hard things about getting a bot :
-Creating
-Getting a server
-Managing a dedicated server
-Refunding
-Managing
-Advertising
-Updating

This is not something you create in one day for fun.

But, if you manage to get one, once you created it, just come and get the keys, that's it.
What is good and bad with getting a level up bot ?

As you can see, there's not alot of bad things haha.
I have the honor to ask questions about the Level Up bots, to a level up bot creator.

Q : Hello Kryb, can you present yourself ?

A : My name is Daniel and I am from Denmark. I am currently studying in Denmark.
I have a strong interest in coding and hardware. The reason is I'd like to leverage my detail-oriented mind and apply the skills and knowledge that I have attained throughout my degree courses. I see myself as a people-oriented and over-achiever person. I demonstrated this through working in various group projects, with different types of people in which I had been able to perform well.

Q : When did you start your level up bot ?

A : I started my level up bot 23-06-17.

Q : In wich language was the bot made ?

A : In javascript

Q : Do you have requirements to get a level up bot ?

A : You'll need Node.js, and NPM.

Q : What is NMP in a very brief explanation ?

A : NPM basically makes it easy for JavaScript developers to refuse code, and it makes it very easy updating the code you're sharing.

Q : Do you have tips for people who would like to create one ?

A : You definitely need patience, and surplus.

Q : Last question, are you able to tell us how many dollars a week you make ?

A : My bot has currently been up a week, and I've made around 20 keys.

As you can see, he made 20 keys in 1 week. Imagin getting 20 keys in 1 week with a brand new bot, wich means it needs to be found and to get a reputation.

Consider that known bots are making douzains of keys everyday !

So at the end ? Worth it (It ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worth it)

-----B) Create CS GO Skins
Create CS GO skins is another passive incomes, if you manage to get your skin into the get (and you have low chances), good or bad, you'll get alot of money.
It's still blurry how many % you get, but, no matter what, millions of people will buy it. Hope for you it is expensive.

Few requirements :
  • -Photoshop with a 3D basic knowledge
  • -VTF Edit

Message from a skin maker friend that have skins into the game :
Generally the only way you can properly boost your chances of getting work in game is to regularly upload quality content, that way you gain experience with each new design and increace the odds of valve seeing your work. When it comes to requirements everyone seems to do something different when they make skins, you have to find a method that works for you. Some people use substance painter, some use blender or 3DS Max, I use Photoshop and 3D
Coat for all my skins.

When you're designing a skin you've got to make sure that you texture the whole gun, if parts are left untextured then you'll be reducing your chances greatly, seems obvious but I see it a lot.

And on the question "Are you able to tell us much money do you make", he responded :

I'm not sadly, its a very good amount tho

So, at the end ? Worth it, but it's super hard !
5 / Other
-----A) Flip
We're gonna be really fast on this one, basicly, flipping is buy to resell after, on a higher price !

Basicly you need to buy CHEAP and sell EXPENSIVE, following the market prices. Here is a very simplistic view of the market prices, and where to sell/buy :

Be aware that you need INSANE market skills.
It's not very popular, but still a way to play with the steam market :)
So, at the end ? Worth it
End of this guide !

how much set do you have when you start the bot

I hope artworks were only particles and movements...anyway, charge as much as your time worth, if you're just a hobbyist, the prices will of course be lower, even if you have experience, it doesn't mean you are good, so try to see where you are situated in terms of skill, compare to others, etc... if you need, I can quote your work.

For creating steam artwork, how would you recommend getting started - like create a website and advertise on my steam profile what i'm selling? I have a lot of experience with adobe after effects & can use it to make animated artwork. So, if i'm fully animating it with particles & movement (which takes a long time) what kind of price should I be charging?
