I did not know that since I'm a newer fan of the series.
This reminds me of Streets of Rage 4, where you can unlock the original, pixel-perfect characters from the older games' roster and they do move the same as the new Streets of Rage 4 models, because the developers did care about keeping the original format, timing and movements.
