this is a theory post about the cannibals and mutants of the forest and how there anatomys work
this will cover:

the cannibals and there anatomy
the armsy and its anatomy
the virginia and its anatomy
the cowman and its anatomy
and how all there bodies work

the first part of this is going to be how they reproduce so we can get that part out of the way

the first thing is the cannibals all have no genitals (the virginia being an exeption that will have its own section)

also the females are the only cannibals with nipples, this is probably so they can breast feed there babies

now onto the actual reproduction part...

the cannibal have no external genitals, this dosen't mean that the can't reproduce as they may have a different way of reproduction, such as using a cloaca

and a cloaca is the way that things like birds reproduce

so basicly, the cannibals may use a cloaca to reproduce instead of having external genitals,
if the cannibals were incapable of reproduction the breasts would probably be used to feed the virginias babies instead

and even if they do use a cloaca its probably for defensive reasons as a kick to the genitals would stun them long enough to probably land a fatal hit

first off, we will talk about the regular ones first and then move on to the rest of them after...

also we will not be talking about the skin mask cannibals or the cross/paint covered ones

first we will start explaining how the regular cannibals anatomy works

first off they can climb trees and run at very high speed and can jump straight out of trees and land on the ground without breaking any of there bones

climbing up a tree or running at that speed would require some powerful muscles and these would be hard to develop and fuel, especially in the conditions that they live in so they must have developed stronger and more efficient muscles over generations on the island

also they can do quite a bit of damage as well, this means they they must have quite powerful muscles and again these would be quite difficult to develop as of the conditions that they live in

not only that but the fact that most of them are malnourished makes this seem quite implausible but not impossible as over generations they may have adapted to the harsh conditions and gained powerful muscles and bones as a result, explaining why they can jump from a tree and not break there knees in the process

now for the skinny cannibals...

its obvious that they are more malnourished than the other cannibals and are weaker as a result this may be a result of them not having as developed muscles and bones as the regular cannibals or meaning that they are out competed by the regular cannibals and in turn get to eat less and have weaker less developed muscles as they cannot obtain as much food, but thanks to generations of adaptation they have developed increased speed and adapted to eating less food and they may not be as strong but they sure as hell are fast

now for the cannibal leaders...

the cannibal leaders seem to be more intelligent than the regular cannibals and it seems that they may have had a better diet than the regular cannibals, causing there brains to be more advanced or they may have just adapted over generations to be smarter and be better leaders,
the ways of seeing that they have higher intelligence is there use of lights to find the player at night and sometimes there use of crafted weapons

and now for the fire cannibals...

the fact that this cannibal figured out that it can light a tennis ball on fire and throw molotov's shows that its much smarter than a regular leader as its one of the only cannibals that uses a ranged attack that can cause large amounts of damage, this shows that its brain may be much more advanced than the cannibal leaders brain as it will also sometimes has a flashlight which it uses to try and find the player and the fact it uses fire based weapons shows that it is aware of the concept of "causality" and "cause and effect"

i have a few theories about where the cannibals may have come from, my first theory is that they were once scientists or staff members or maybe even patients or test subjects, also from the camera tapes we can find in game we see that armsy's existed before everything messed up and an armsy is what killed Megan cross, so my theory is that they may have been trying to make some kind of cure as megan cross is in a wheelchair and has some kind of breathing apparatus to help keep her alive and the armsy in the video is a test subject to try and cure some kind of disease, but it went wrong and created a super powerful mutant and the cure attempt turned into a mutagenic virus that caused rapid mutations in the infected, kind of like the FEV virus from the fallout games that turned people into super mutants and sometimes into behemouths

so basically it was a virus or genetic disease from a failed test that turned people into mutants and sometimes more powerful variations of said mutants

the armsy is a large mutant covered in arms and has the ability to topple trees with a single swipe

first off its body...

first off, the armsy has multiple limbs that are all functional, meaning that the skeletal structure would be quite complex as the arm needs to be connected to a shoulder blade to function properly

not only that, but the fact it can cut down a tree just by swinging its arms means that its bones and muscles must be ridiculously strong to withstand the impact with the tree and cutting it down as well

also it has a third leg on the back of its body and its probably there for balancing purposes as of how tall they are

also the mutants have a tendency to drown rather quickly and the only way this makes sense is if they breath through there skin especially the fact that the armsy and cowman all lack a mouth or it may just be an oversight by the developers, or the armsy might just have its mouth and eyes hidden under some kind of special skin or something similar

now onto its intelligence...

we can tell that the armsy is not all that smart as it often walks directly into traps, unlike regular cannibals but it does react to things and i have noticed some traits that show it may be more intelligent that we think, for example:

when an armsy is set on fire it screams in pain but if you listen carefully you can hear it saying "fire"

and also it attacks walls to try and clear a path for cannibals to get into your base

so thats the armsy finished...

Ok, now for the virginia...

first off its anatomy...

the virginia is a 6 legged creature that can charge and leap at you, and looks like 3 fused human bodies

the virginia can leap a large distance, this means that it must have powerful legs to do this, meaning that its muscles in its legs must have adapted to function like springs that catapult the virginia towards the player and it would also need rather strong bones to withstand the take off forces and the impact force of when it lands as well

not only that, but it probably does not breath through its skin as there is a thing on the front of the head that looks like a hood of skin on the front of the face area, this is probably where the vocal cords and lungs are connected to and just because its covered in skin does not mean that the skin is not porous enough for it to breath through, this could also be said for eyes as well, there could be skin covering its eyes but it has mutated to act as a "one way glass" like thing

as i previously said, the fact that mutants can drown so easily may be an oversight by the developers

also the virginia clearly has no mouth and the hood of skin could be a mouth but there is no way it can get food to it as its arms are fused to its body, so the genitals underneath may be multipurpose, it may also act as a mouth as well as it can easily use its legs as limbs to consume its food this way

also jellyfish do the same thing as well, they excrete waste from the same hole that they eat with,
so basically the virginia has a cloaca that has been adapted to function as its reproductive organs, a mouth and its "butt hole" and with a system like this it makes more space for larger lungs that it uses to power its powerful legs to perform its leap attack


also when you go down into a virginia cave you will find quite a lot of dead mutant babies and ive have noticed that all the virginias, armys and cowmen look the same and so do all the babies (also this excludes the blue variants as they are probably just random mutations and we will talk about them later)

this leads me to believe that the virginia is unable to feed its own babies as it cannot reach them using its arms, and its legs are all it can use it pick them up explaining why there are only a few alive

but also noticing the fact that the babies themselves can leap at you, this leads me to believe that they are all virginia babies or that they all have a 1/3 chance to grow up into one of the 3 mutants,
also noticing the virginias are all the same and so are the babies, has be thinking that they reproduce by cloning themselves, probably using a method called "asexual reproduction", and there are real life animals that can do this, there are a species of lizards in Vietnam that are entirely female and reproduce my cloning themselves, the species is called Leiolepis ngovantrii

so that's the virginia, a self cloning cloaca mouthed monstrosity

Ok, now for the cowman...

the cowman is a large fat mutant that attacks by charging, stomping and belly flopping on its target

first off its anatomy...

first thing is, the cowman is rather large and it can also charge at very high speeds and turn quite fast while doing so as well, and it uses both its size and speed to tear straight through structures,
and it would need very strong bones and muscles to do this kind of thing, not only does its muscles and bones need to be strong, they need to be strong enough to withstand both the impact with a wall and its own weight

not only that but its face is covered in a layer of skin, this means it has no way to eat, see or breath

it would probably be able to see if the skin covering its eyes can be seen through from one way like i suggested the virginia might be able to do, and it might be able to breath in the same way as well,
but how it eats is a complete mystery, unless it absorbs its food through its skin or something similar like that

so that's the cowman finished...

Ok, now for the blue mutants...

the blue mutants are faster and stronger than the regular mutants, this meaning that there muscles and bones must be more developed than the regular ones, but they also have blue skin and this raises several questions about why they are blue and why are they so much faster and stronger than the regular mutants, well there are a few possible answers and the best answer i can come up with is that they were genetic experiments and the blue colour was added so that the scientists can tell the difference between both the modified and unmodified types of mutants, but i do have another theory and this has to do with the artifact and i think that the artifact may have created the blue mutants to try and kill the player, (the obelisks will be next) as the player is a threat to its power over the island and its inhabitants

this part will be covering both the resurrection Obelisk and the power Obelisk

first off, the resurrection Obelisk

the resurrection Obelisk is a spiky obsidian structure used to revive the dead that contains sharp obsidian spikes that it uses to impale the victim inside

also i have a theory about where the resurrection obelisk came from, my theory is that the resurrection obelisk came from another dimension or reality and was placed there by some interdimensional entity or thing, and whatever made the resurrection obelisk reprogrammed its matter so that the laws of physics are different for the resurrection obelisk, regardless of whatever dimension or reality it was placed in, meaning that it always does the same thing regardless of if it should be possible or not

also my theory about the power obelisk is pretty much the same as my theory about the resurrection obelisk
