Halo 4 Spartan Customization
โดย Frosty Dr.
I got tired of people not being able to understand my old How To Customize Halo 4 Spartans, so, I created this new guide instead. I have simplified EVERYTHING. If one cannot understand it now, I can't help you or do anything to make you understand.

This guide should show you how to customize and color the Halo 4 Spartan Playermodels. There's steps and pictures.

How to Color PMs
- Make sure your Playermodel is one of the Halo 4 Spartans, go into the bodygroup tab, and disable everything by setting it's value to 4, the techsuit is fine, that's why it doesn't have a bodygroup setting:

- Spawn a ragdoll of the spartan playermodel, that's this, everything with the suffix _pm:

Everything after the PM I'm hovering over is a PM, the ones above are NPCs and the female spartans if you have them.

- Next, give him the base color you want, use the Color tool located in the Render tab on the right side of the Spawn menu:

- Finally, use Easy Bonemerge to merge the colored PM to yourself. To do that, if you don't know how, you Right Click the ragdoll, press E and Right Click to select yourself, then Left Click to bonemerge it:

- Done:
How to Customize
Now, let's say you followed the steps above, and they worked, but now you want to move on and customize your Spartan, by giving them different armor pieces and colors?

- Set up your PM in the PM list like before:

Now, for customizing;

Say, you want the shoulders and arms from this one:

But the helmet from this:

Or the torso from this:

And the leg armor from this:

- Spawn them all (you'll know from the helmets which ones I'm talking about):

- Use Easy Bodygroups and disable all the parts you don't want on each ragdoll:

- Now Color what you want to be the base color first on what ever parts you want to be, I'll go blue for the helmet, and torso. Then give what ever remaining parts the secondary color of your choice, I'll go red for the shoulders, arms, and legs:

- Now bonemerge them all one by one to yourself, and you're done:

The techsuits are overlapping, that's because you cannot disable the techsuits. They were able to be disabled before, but I took out that feature because people were complaining that one could run around invisible on servers, and I'm unsure if that's against any rules (I mean to have a permanent invisible PM), but I don't want to take any chances.

===================================================

Since all the spartan pms have bodygroups, play around with what armor pieces you like, mix and match what pieces you like. If you want a shoulder armor from one model, for the left arm, and a different armor for the right arm from a different model, you'd have to spawn them both obviously, and disable the right shoulder armor from the left shoulder model, and vice versa.

The principle still applies, even if you don't want a multi-colored pm because of that one issue, you could just use one color, but still customize what armor pieces you want, that's why I made them non-colorable via the playermodel tab.

Example using what we've learned above:

Spawn models, edit bodygroups to liking:

Color:

Use Easy Bonemerge

End Results

If you want to know what Sub-Material tool is for, have a look at it on it's workshop page. It's included in this guide because it can be used to "color" the Spartan's visor. I won't cover how to use it, but hopefully this picture can give an idea:
Conclusion
Hopefully this guide is more understandable compared to the previous guide, and has finally helped you customize the Halo 4 PM Spartans. If not, then;

Please, don't complain if you still can't understand, I can't make you understand. This guide IS NOT rocket science. If it's too hard for you, then find some other playermodels to use, because this isn't worth getting cranky over.

If you have Ragdoll colorizer, it will cause conflicts

The guide worked perfectly, I understood it.
I just wanted to say, when I first subscribed to the spartan mod, the armor used player colors.
Was there a reason this feature was removed?

I'm having some problems with first person mode where I can see the whole bone merge, is there any fix for that or is it easier to play in third person? Also this guide was a massive help to me as I'm very new to the more adept part of gmod. Many props for making it simple pun intended. :D
