Rommel was a dedicated infatry soldier and had more in common with the soldier then he did with high command. His tactics and style employed against the italians and Romanian forces is what attracted him to Hitler. His book infantry attacks was an excellent book and if you read it you will gain a huge insight on The field Marshall and most of his moves and plays in the afika theater directly relate to his tactics used as an infantry soldier while deployed with the Mountain Battalion of the elite Alpenkorps. Truly a master of tactics, ethics, and patriotic duty for ones country.
