I've been looking into how to perfect my gameplay, as my friends always end up doing way better then me. At first I thought it's just civs, then that I'm just bad, and by now I feel I just have the wrong grasp on the game.
So a guide like yours, while it does state the obvious a lot (which is very good, as the obvious is what most people miss), is exactly what I've been looking for!
Keep at it, and I hope you'll get the chance to finish the guide one day.
