Introduction
After playing this game for quite a long time, I've noticed a few tactics that I constantly use, that aren't really ever mentioned anywhere. Thought I'd share, feel free to leave your own in the comments or contact me through Steam and I may add them to this guide.
Strange Strategies
Cargo Bombardment - Crates, being dirt cheap, can be used as an extremely cheap bomb. Though this tactic is very situational. They take time to deploy, are relatively inaccurate, and have super low terrain penetration. however, they shouldnt be written off yet. the fact that they are extremely cheap allows you to spam them, and if required, you can load cargo into them, though I wouldn't reccomend it. You can also use more expensive aircraft for a more powerful effect, but it is probably too expensive for you to practically consider

Money Suicide - While you can let your ships go back into space for a partial refund, I have found that if you are more in need of a weapon than money, its very effective to take control of a ship that has unloaded its cargo, and then to send it straight into enemies, or bunkers. This however, does require skill at controlling said aircraft, this is more effective but alot more expensive than Crate Bombardment. The debris from the ship after it explodes from crashing or being shot down can also further damage enemies and provide cover.

Movement - Jetpacks can help Horizontal movement as well as vertical. quickly pressing down and left/right. then up, so that you lean forward and then use your jetpack, you can send yourself flying forward, this can help getting over gaps, crowds of enemies, or even propelling yourself through a tight tunnel.
Campaign
Defending and Attacking Uninhabited Lands - Crate Bombardment is extremely effective here since the enemy has to land on the ground and isn't in a bunker immediately. During bunker defends I reccomend searcing for the two rockets that come down and then placing a couple crate drops directly in the middle, where the dropship will be. If you are fast enough, the crates inaccuracy will matter less as all it has to do is hit the dropship and crash it down into the brainbot. With Uninhabited Lands I first recommend using your starting dropship as an improvised rocket to attack the enemy brainbot, though this will only work on one of the enemies, so if there are more than one, prepare a followup strategy. Note that these strategies require the area to be scanned.

Self Destruct - To be used only as a last resort, but filling up a crate with atleast a hundred or two crabs and then launching it will destroy everyone including you and the enemy. This sounds bad, but if you know you are going to lose, you can launch this for next to nothing, and have a higher chance of defeating anyone who comes to take the land next turn. They wont start out in any bunker or base and itll be easier to kill them, though you will have to do the same.

Gold Rush - Not a strategy at all but a good piece of information, Enemy AI will almost always target uninhabited lands before attacking anyone else (I usually play on a high difficulty level but low Ai, so this may change when the AI has a much higher intelligence). Meaning that whenever a new gold site is found, there is a lull in attacks against you and you are free to attack or repair without worry about spare money.

You Have Time - Not exactly a strategy per se, but while managing many bases, I've found it helpful to constantly leave a small budget on bases each turn rather than blowing all my money on base defense every once in awhile, with less money spent each turn you have more for attacks and defending, and by the time you need to actually worry about attacks, your bases will have massive defense.
Mods
Systemworks Tech - While this mod adds a few other things, the only use I constantly have for it is the Breach Crate, while being more expensive than normal crates, its pinpoint accurate and can dive through terrain, meaning that it is perfect for Crate Bombardment, and can easily be used to breach into bunkers or other bases.

Great War Series - These mods add 4 factions, and while I haven't experimented with many of them, I personally like how a lot of the actors come preloaded with weapons, meaning I don't have to fiddle with weaponry in the loadout. Another great thing is that most of these factions have soldiers that are a lot cheaper than other factions counterparts. The actors are relatively weak, but being able to deploy platoons at a time is really nice.

Ul-Tex - This mod adds a variety of Air to Surface bombs for use with dropships. Keep in mind however, this mod can be extremely OP if you have a relatively decent amount of money.

Based actually has a really good point. Alternatively if you're dropping off men, pick up your injured men and damaged equipment. Also if the drop zone is clear, pick up any equipment your drop ship can grab.

send your cheapest buyable unit through a drop crate, have him pick up all of the dropped weapons and tools on the ground, and evac him with a drop ship, if you scavenge enough you can turn a profit:ccgold:

1 time i was coming in to land my brain at the start when i spotted an enemy ship coming down to drop off its brain too. so i just quickly flew my ship straight into theirs and dropped my brain out before the whole mess hit the ground and won lol

well if you really want to use crate bombardment than i would suggest filling them with around 500 gold worth of fat clones then letting them dig until the crate explodes

Fill the drop crate with $1000 in pineapple grenades. Scuttle it on the drop and you will dig through concrete.

Most effective weapon I've used is the medium digger. Will tear right through enemy bodies like no tommorow. Real effective in unoccupied land, where most enemy brains will be underground in an inclosed environment with no where to run.

Using free terrain rocks can help provide defense in campaigns for free, just spam rock pillars around the map to make landing harder for the opponent. This combined with a large gold digging team and a few anti-air can cause enemies to be trapped and useless for so long that you turn a profit from the fight.

You forgot crab bombing, you shove like 20 crabs in a crate and then drop it near enemies, sometimes itll just kill everything on the map if you cram too many crabs

Give a crab 200 gold worth of Browncoat fire bombs and 400 gold of Browncoat fuel bombs. It'll create an effective landmine that enemy AI will attack on site,or can be detonated deliberately by grenade for use as an anti-bunker weapon.

medium diggers are even more powerful
