Ha, you're right. It must have been steam. It was doing it on my laptop as well as the PC. Thanks for the awesome guide. It's showing all good now.

@ Banderx27 - you sure? It's still displaying the YouTube thumbnails at this end. Perhaps Steam was having a wobble when you checked.

There is a secret room in the 8bit doom room in the necropolis. If you go to the wall where there is a face on the wall, go to the right of it and u can open the wall, and u can get health, ammo, and a shotgun.
