Depends on which government you are refering to. It is not vital for the federal government to invest in infrastructure (massive scandal not too long ago with almost a billion dollars of funds stolen by politicans including bernie sanders). It can be helpful for local government to invest in infrastructer though having the free market decide what infrastructer is needed would be more ideal. I may create a mod for that actually.

I'm gonna try this mod. Government direct spending for the infrastructure is vital in any economy, especially if you see it in Keynesian perspective.

It is always best to solve in market,but sometimes a single hand if it has checks and balances brings wellness in quick way.

@cardusan73 dont try explaining economics without understanding it, infastructure spending is one of the few things in an economy you cant give to the private sector as it will never benifit them directly, thats why the goverment has to spend money on it. Everything else even the police force csn be turned into a private good one way or another.
