"This diagram may be used to build a modular base or as a starter plan.

#x Columns

Buildings such as Storage and Bio domes come in four sizes: Small, Medium, Large, and Massive (available through purchasable plans). The diagram assumes that a small size is 1x, medium is 2x, etc.
Which column to use is determined by the size of the Bio dome. Knowing the size of the planned Bio dome is crucial. If the dome is 2x, then the left column must always be used to guarantee placement of all structures shown. If the dome is 4x, use the right column.
Figures under the #x columns are suggestions for components to be added after construction. They are listed by priority.

Swappable Buildings

Needs may vary due to commerce, disasters, etc. It is possible to build two airlocks off the O2 Generator attached to the bottom of the Bio dome (shown grayed out) for access to a Landing Pad or Starport. If this is the case, then a Command Center should be built instead of a Robotics Facility to move armed guards closer a point of ingress for armed intruders (more likely with higher prestige).

Base design is all about having what you need next to where it is needed.

That is a very place it however sort of base. It has no path redundancy so if any module is hit by a metorite or broken by a quake or something everyone in several directions is trapped, and you are particularly screwed if the biodome goes down, better if your airlock area is 2 airlocks and imediatly after which you can go to the canteen, the medical bay, or the stoarage. Since those are the 3 things you are likley to need right out of the gate. Having at least 1 redundant path from every branch all the way to the main airlock is a must, if a little bit more expensive.

Низко продуктивная база судя по рисунку....хранилище далеко от всех зданий которые вырабатывают ту или инную продукцию....выход на к Starport всего 1 (а нужно как минимум 3, а в идеале 6) + эти выходы не защищены от постонронних, когда начнет приземляться по 15 кораблей одновременно ващей защите придется не сладко! На максимальной сложности еще и молнии будут бить в отсеки их защита не предусмотрена и смертность будет просто невероятной!

kev-dut, the sizes are already stated, by the size in the diagram, and if we move the control center to the O2 half the base will not get oxygen. ctrl center is effective in robotics when you wanna add starports, you don't need to though.

and for the connections it must be of what size so that everything fits as in the diagram? Is it better big buildings or small?

is the basic and easy to do and modular at the start of the game.
and is the control center effective in its position in the diagram in the event of an intrusion?

i usually put landing pads in the middle with a single airlock. any visitors get checked if intruders airlock stays closed until they die. no need to waste resources on security rooms or having guards imo.

I always connect my Dorms to a small O2 ... it allows for more beds due to the smaller hallway connection.
Same is true for the medbay... but the medbay (also the dorm if desired) can be connected to the smallest exercise building too.. that also allows for more beds in the dorm and medbay.
Surprised you didn't show the Lab... I always try and have as few connections to it as possible... usually one going to its own dedicated small biodome so it can get at least 3 herb plants to match up with 2-3 lab tables. Also one tree is good there.

the only thing I don't really like, is the lab is kind of far away from the canteen and sickbay, also the biodome is between all of those, so medical plants have to be carried from the middle of the base, to one end, then all the way across the base to the sickbay with the medical supplies
