Introduction
This guide will give you the information on some scamming techniques and how you can protect yourself against them. Scammers are always coming up with new techniques, so do not think this will stop you from being scammed.

Sources/More Information:
Who is scammer ?
A scammer is a person who tries to get your items or skins for free.
There are alot well known and less known methods of scamming items in steam.

I will show you some different scamming methods, so you will be safe while trading your items.

But remember, this are not all scamming methods and every day people are inventing new one.
Steam Guard & Mobile Authenticator
Steam Guard
When you enable Steam Guard it doesn't make you completely immune to account thieves, but it's essential to always keep it enabled.
Click if you want to know how to enable SG

Mobile Authenticator
You need to instal Steam App, but adds another security to your steam account.
+ Security Layer
+ You need to accept everything twice
- You need to wait 7 Days untill TRADE HOLDS dissapear
(that means if somebody scammed you and you accepted it you will need to accept it on MA too)
Click if you want to know how to enable MA
Phishing Scams
Most account hijackers rely on deceiving and tricking users into actually giving them their account details.

This method is known as phising, and is very easy to find out, if you just take a few moments to double check the URL of the webpage that you've been redirected to.

Valve operates the following websites FOR Steam. If you see any others proclaiming to be Steam, it's not true.
All Steam login pages for safety have an SSL Validation Certificate. It'll look like a padlock with a green highlight and thetext "Valve Corporation [US]" to the left of your address bar.

The most phising scams lure victims in with a promise of free items and games.
When you click on the link you'll see a perfect replica of a Steam website which will prompt you to login to continue.
If the URL spelling is not accurate, or it points to a different site entirely, it WILL steal your account details.
Software Scams
Never install software that promises free items/games or to check if your items are safe.
They will infect you with malware and viruses on your system.
Files can take many extensions such as executable
(.EXE.) / (.DLL files) / (.BAT) / (.SCR)
The intention is to steal your credit card information, items or your account!
You can prevent installing malicious software by mistake by avoiding links from people you don't know.
Money Scams
Money Trade Offer
Scammer will send you trade offer with some description similliar to this:
"A total of € --- will be added to your steam wallet after the trade is complete.Do note that the Valve Corporation will deduct € --- as a 5% tax."
OR ANY OTHER OFFER WITH MONEY NEVER TRUST THIS.

PayPal
Scammer will tell you that he will send you money for your item/s.
He will send you message similliar to this:
"I'll buy your knife for 65"

How to avoid:
Make sure the person giving you the money has a good steam rep, and to check that you have the money in your paypal balance, not just your email.

Trade offer scams
1st method
This method was in money scam section

2nd method
Scammer will send you trade offer with all your cheap skins like:
boreal forests and more (any cheap skins for 0,05 ) and between 20-30 cheap skins he will put in item which will infiltrate into the camo of the items so it will look like boreal forest (fore example).

3rd method
Scammer buys profile background or anything from market which is only once on the market for few cents.
He put it back up in market for much more money like 20 €.
He will tel you to buy it for him because he has not got money.
He will offer you for it something expensive like KNIFE.
When you bought the item from market he will block you and earn money.
Middleman Scams
The middleman scam is done in different ways.
It will be mostly used when you want to sell your items for real money
Middleman
Scammer will ask if you want middleman on your trade.
Middleman:
prerson who takes the items or the money from one person and changes it trough the trading guys
If you do not know the middleman, you have to be very carefull.
The middleman will take your items and give them to the scammer without giving you the money or stuff.
Exterior Scam
This scam method is used when trading CS:GO items.
Person will post trade on lounge example:
AWP | Asiimov (FT) but he has (BS) one. You need to be patient with this.
Better double check the exterior and the price of this items when you trade with them ! this scam is done with skins which are expensive in a good exterior but cheap in a bad one.

Mostly this scammers will write in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ something like
"DONT ADD ME, FAST TRADE 1:1, SEND ME AN OFFER"
to make you rush the trade.

Reporting Scammers
If you see a user who is attempting or even scammed yourself or others through the Steam Community, you can report them by visiting their Steam Profile and clicking the "More" button near the top.

From the dropdown menu select the Report Violation button.

Then click on reason and type what you want and then click
Submit Report
