HOW TO MASTER THE ENGINEER

Preface
The engineer takes elements from the other three classes and blends them into what is arguably the most flexible class in the game, which lends itself well to a variety of playstyles. If you're here to become the ultimate Warface engineer, you came to the right place.

Co-Op
On its own, the engineer is perhaps the weakest class in PvE. The engineer requires a strong team to keep them supported, because they need both health and ammo to hold their own. In turn, a good engineer will make a strong team stronger.

SMGs have horrible damage drop. Be mindful of their high fire rate and low damage per shot, because if not, you will find yourself burning through ammo quickly in a heated gunfight. Headshots are a must if you want to make kills at range.

You should constantly be restoring armor. Since the submachine gun isn't the best damage dealer out there and directional mines are seldom useful, focus on restoring armor. Getting kills is secondary - there are other classes better suited for that.

Target prioritization is an important skill that many players have yet to master. Spec ops, demomen, and CQBs are dangerous bots that can wipe a team if they're not careful. Because of the engineer's small ammo reserve, it's best to save your bullets for these types of enemies.

Versus
This is where the engineer really shines. Armed with a high DPS submachine gun, combined the ability to place down directional mines and repair their own armor, makes the engineer one of the best, if not the best, class in PvP.

Directional mines one of the reasons why engineers are such an effective class in versus, so use them!

Bear in mind that shooting claymores will set them off; depending on whose directional mine you are shooting at, this will work either for you or against you.

Once you've placed down your directional mine in an area, avoid that area! If you are standing next to your claymore and it gets set off, the blast WILL kill you.

Directional mines do not disappear after death.

The engineer has arguably the best armor available to him in the whole game - the anti-sniper vest. It is a common vendor armor, so many of you will unlock it early on. While it's advertised as protecting against 1 sniper shot, the game doesn't differentiate between sniper rounds and other rounds, meaning the vest can tank multiple hits from an assault rifle before you begin to take any real damage. Be mindful of the fact that many players frown upon the use of this vest for obvious reasons, and you may find yourself kicked from lobbies for using it.

Repair your armor when there is a lull in the fight. When your opponent chips away all of your AP but leaves 80% of your HP intact, restoring your armor to full means you essentially reversed all of the damage dealt by your opponent.

As an engineer, the time it takes to plant or defuse a bomb in PtB is cut in half compared to all other classes.

Thank you for taking the time to read my guide. If you learned something new, take what you learned and apply it in a game. If you found this helpful, share this guide with your friends and spread the knowledge.
